Job Description

Opportunity:

Advanced Practice- Nurse Practitioner- Cardiovascular Surgery, Physician Assistant- Cardiovascular/Cardiothoracic Surgery

Job Details:

Monday-Thursday onsite coverage from 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM with on-call duties starting at 4:30 PM
Friday onsite coverage from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM with on-call starting at 5:00 PM
Saturday and Sunday 24-hour coverage with approximately 4 hours onsite beginning at 6:00 AM for rounding
Preferred schedule is 7 days on, 7 days off from Monday through Sunday
Must have cardiothoracic experience; PAs must know how to perform endoscopic vein harvesting with approximately 500 cases and 10 years experience
Primary responsibilities include rounding and medical management, especially on weekends
Take ICU call 1-2 nights per week and weekend call coverage
Daily rounding on all inpatients in ICU and stepdown units, new consults, and patient discharges
Operating room duties include endoscopic vein harvesting, training new APPs, and first assist on cases
Handle patient management for inpatients, emergency consultations, and hospital transfers
Specialties covered include cardiac surgeries, thoracic procedures, vascular surgeries, and heart failure cases
Patient encounters average 8-10 inpatients per shift
ACLS and BLS certifications required
Board certification required
Laptop required for call coverage

The facility maintains a Level 2 trauma designation and provides high-acuity cardiac care including complex procedures such as coronary artery bypass, valve surgeries, aortic dissections, and heart failure treatments. The facility features modern surgical suites with robotic capabilities for thoracic procedures and maintains specialized units for cardiovascular intensive care and stepdown services.
