Job Description

Opportunity:

Advanced Practice- Physician Assistant- Cardiovascular/Cardiothoracic Surgery, Nurse Practitioner- Cardiovascular Surgery

Job Details:

  • Provide cardiovascular and cardiothoracic surgery support Monday through Sunday with preferred 7 on/7 off schedule
  • Monday-Thursday onsite coverage 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with on-call duties starting at 4:30 PM
  • Friday onsite coverage 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with on-call starting at 5:00 PM
  • Weekend 24-hour coverage with approximately 4 hours onsite starting at 6:00 AM for rounding
  • Daily rounding on all inpatients in ICU and stepdown units, managing new consults and discharges
  • Perform endoscopic vein harvesting (EVH) procedures and train new APPs on EVH techniques
  • First assist on surgical cases once familiar with surgeon routines
  • Handle patient management calls, emergency department consultations, and hospital transfers
  • Support specialties including cardiac surgery, thoracic surgery, vascular surgery, and heart failure management
  • Manage 8-10 inpatient encounters per shift
  • Must have cardiothoracic experience with PAs requiring EVH knowledge
  • ACLS and BLS certification required
  • Board certification required with minimum 30-day credentialing timeframe

The facility specializes in high-acuity cardiac procedures including coronary artery bypass, valve repairs, aortic dissections, and advanced heart failure treatments. The organization maintains state-of-the-art technology for both open and minimally invasive procedures, including robotic surgical capabilities and advanced life support systems such as LVAD and ECMO.
