Physician Assistant - Cardiothoracic Surgery

Job Details:

• Provide OR coverage including endoscopic vein harvest and first assisting
• Manage postoperative patients with inpatient rounding responsibilities
• Write clinical notes, place appropriate orders, and remove surgical drains and pacing wires
• Handle patient discharges, admissions, and consultations
• Conduct one formal clinic day per week seeing post-operative and new consultation patients
• Prepare and educate patients for surgery procedures
• Answer outpatient phone calls and provide clinical support
• Work 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM shifts, 5 days per week with 30-minute lunch included
• 0.5 FTE position requiring 10 shifts per month, 2 weeks per month schedule
• Treat cardiac surgery patients including CABG, AVR, MVR, and TAVR procedures
• Manage 6-8 patients per day in a practice performing approximately 150 open heart surgeries annually
• No call responsibilities with possible weekend rounding once per month (4 hours Saturday/Sunday)
• Must have 2-3 years cardiac experience and proficiency in Extraction Vein Harvesting using Venapax and Maquet systems
• Board certification as Physician Assistant required along with BLS, ACLS, PA license, and PA DEA
• Minimum 2 weeks per month commitment required

The facility utilizes EPIC EMR system and maintains a comprehensive cardiac surgery program with dedicated support staff including other cardiac PAs, office staff, and physician coverage.
