Job Description

Description

Location: San Antonio, TX location is preferred, but will considered other qualified candiates

ECC is seeking a licensed Architect or Professional Engineer to help lead the delivery of complex federal design-build projects throughout the United States and around the world. We are looking for professionals with approximately 5 to 15 years of real-world design experience who have developed strong technical expertise within their discipline and are ready to lead multidisciplinary subcontracted Architect-Engineer (A/E) teams. Candidates must possess outstanding communication skills and the ability to effectively lead large meetings, facilitate discussions among diverse stakeholders, build consensus, and drive successful project outcomes. This opportunity is ideal for architects and engineers who want to expand beyond traditional discipline-specific roles and assume greater project leadership responsibilities while remaining closely connected to the design process. In this position, you will:

  • Serve as the design management lead on complex federal design-build projects
  • Help guide projects from proposal development through final design and construction support
  • Support a diverse portfolio of federal projects including facilities, infrastructure, utilities, airfields, waterfront and shipyard developments, industrial facilities, site improvements, and other mission-critical programs
  • Apply technical expertise, broaden leadership skills, and work alongside experienced design and construction professionals on projects that have a lasting impact
  • In addition to the accountabilities above, other responsibilities, tasks, and deliverables may be assigned to the incumbent of this position.

Requirements:

  • Current registration as a Registered Architect (RA) or Professional Engineer (PE)
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture or Engineering
  • Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible design experience
  • Experience coordinating multiple technical disciplines and leading design efforts
  • Ability to successfully lead multidisciplinary subcontracted A/E teams
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Federal Design-Build project experience
  • Department of Defense project experience
  • Working knowledge of UFC, UFGS, and WBDG
  • Experience with NAVFAC, USACE, Air Force, Army, Marine Corps, Space Force, or other federal agencies
  • Experience leading design-build proposal efforts
  • Experience supporting projects valued in excess of $20 million

Experience with federal projects and federal design standards is highly desirable. However, ECC is equally interested in candidates who possess strong design experience, proven leadership ability, and the capability to successfully lead multidisciplinary subcontracted A/E teams.

ECC targeted salary range for the San Antonio area is $115,000 to $125,000 annually. Actual salary offered may be affected by education, training, certifications, experience, skills, level of responsibility, and location.
  • Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP)
  • Medical/Dental/Prescription/Vision Insurance
  • Life Insurance, Long Term Disability Insurance
  • Paid Time off and Holiday Pay
  • 401k with deferral matching, Student Debt Reduction Program
  • Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)
  • Educational Assistance, Mentorship Program, ECC University
  • Employee Referral Bonus Program
  • Company-matching charitable giving program

Who We’re Looking For

We welcome candidates from Architecture, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering, Waterfront/Marine Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, and other design disciplines with applicable experience. We are seeking licensed professionals who have built a strong foundation through hands-on design experience and are ready to apply those skills in a broader leadership role.

Why Join ECC?

ECC delivers some of the world’s most challenging federal design-build projects for Department of Defense and other federal agency clients. This is an opportunity to move beyond a traditional design role and become a key leader on complex federal projects. You will work directly with clients, subcontracted design partners, project managers, estimators, and construction professionals while helping deliver meaningful projects that support critical missions around the world. ECC currently maintains a design leadership team that includes licensed architects, civil engineers, and structural engineers. We are seeking a talented architect or engineer who will complement our existing team while helping us continue to expand our capabilities across the diverse range of projects we support. The successful candidate’s discipline is less important than their demonstrated design experience, leadership ability, communication skills, and capacity to guide multidisciplinary subcontracted A/E teams through successful project delivery.
