Job Description

Area Relief Direct Support Professional (AR DSP) – Full-Time 

Location: The Dalles, OR  Pay: $25.75 per hour + $1,000 Hiring Bonus 

Community Access Services is hiring an Area Relief Direct Support Professional (AR DSP) to support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) across multiple programs in Wasco County. 

As an AR DSP, you will provide support and coverage for adults at home and at work.  

This role requires flexibility to work at different locations and across all shifts—including day, swing, and overnight shifts—as well as weekends. You must be willing and able to adjust to varying schedules, locations, and support environments based on program needs.

What Does an Area Relief Direct Support Professional Do?

As an Area Relief Direct Support Professional, you'll help adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities live as independently as possible. 

Because this is an area relief position, you'll have the opportunity to work across different programs, gaining experience in different support environments while providing coverage where it is needed most. 

Responsibilities include: 

  • Building positive, supportive relationships with individuals served 

  • Assisting with daily living activities such as cooking, personal care, hygiene, and household tasks 

  • Supporting individuals in community settings, including outings, appointments, recreation, and personal goals 

  • Providing support in employment settings and helping individuals work toward their employment goals 

  • Encouraging independence, confidence, and skill development 

  • Administering medications and completing documentation accurately 

  • Maintaining safe, clean, and welcoming environments 

  • Advocating for the choices, dignity, and well-being of the people you support 

  • Adapting to the unique needs of individuals and programs across multiple locations

Qualifications 

  • Experience in a direct care role and working with individuals with disabilities required 

  • Must be 18+ with a high school diploma or GED 

  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet driving requirements to become a company driver 

  • Ability to pass a national background check 

  • Strong reliability and willingness to work across multiple locations and program settings as needed 

  • Flexibility to work day, swing, and overnight shifts, including weekends 

  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills 

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and assist with mobility needs
