Area Representative

International Student Exchange | Evansville, Indiana

Pan Atlantic Foundation | Flexible Part-Time | 1099 Independent Contractor

$1,000 Per Successful Student Placement + Opportunities to Earn International Travel

Bring the World to Evansville

What if you could help a teenager from another country experience the best of American life right here in southwestern Indiana?

Pan Atlantic Foundation is looking for a motivated, community-minded Area Representative in Evansville, Indiana, to connect international high school students with welcoming host families, local schools, and opportunities to become part of the community.

This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys meeting people, building relationships, connecting with local organizations, and helping young people create memories they will carry with them for a lifetime.

Known as the River City, Evansville combines the friendliness of a close-knit community with the attractions and activities of a larger city. Located along the Ohio River, the area offers students opportunities to experience American sports, local festivals, outdoor adventures, history, arts, and the everyday traditions that make life in Indiana special.

From cheering at a high school basketball game to exploring the riverfront, attending a community festival, discovering local history, or enjoying a family outing at the zoo, an exchange student can experience so much more than what they see in a classroom.

You can help make Evansville a place where international students feel welcomed, included, and at home.

What You'll Actually Do

1. Connect Local Families With International Students

Help families discover the opportunity to welcome an international student into their home and share their culture, traditions, and everyday lives.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Sharing hosting opportunities through social media, personal connections, community groups, and local events.
  • Responding to families interested in learning about international exchange.
  • Meeting with prospective host families and explaining program expectations.
  • Completing required host family interviews and approval steps.
  • Helping families understand the commitment involved in hosting and the support available.
  • Maintaining relationships with host families before and throughout the student's stay.

You don't need to know everyone in Evansville to get started. You need a willingness to start conversations, build connections, and help local families see the world from a new perspective.

2. Build Relationships With Local Schools

A successful exchange experience begins with a school community where students can learn, make friends, participate in activities, and experience American high school traditions.

You'll work to:

  • Establish relationships with local high schools and school personnel.
  • Identify schools interested in welcoming international exchange students.
  • Communicate with administrators and school counselors.
  • Help coordinate school enrollment and required documentation.
  • Build awareness of cultural exchange opportunities throughout the area.

Your community connections can help create opportunities for students while strengthening relationships among schools, families, and the international community.

3. Help Students Experience the Best of Evansville and Southwestern Indiana

For an international student, the American experience isn't just about attending school. It's about discovering the people, places, traditions, and activities that make a community unique.

Evansville offers a wonderful combination of city attractions, outdoor recreation, local history, sports, and family-friendly activities.

Depending on their interests and their host family's activities, students may enjoy:

  • Exploring the Ohio River waterfront. Walk along the riverfront, enjoy scenic views, visit downtown attractions, and experience the importance of the river to Evansville's history and identity.
  • Experiencing American sports. Attend high school football and basketball games, catch an Evansville Otters baseball game at historic Bosse Field, or enjoy hockey and other sporting events.
  • Discovering local festivals and traditions. Experience the famous West Side Nut Club Fall Festival, with its lively streets, food booths, community traditions, and local atmosphere. Seasonal festivals and community events offer plenty of opportunities to experience life as a local.
  • Visiting Mesker Park Zoo & Botanic Garden. Explore animal habitats and beautiful gardens while enjoying one of southwestern Indiana's established attractions.
  • Exploring local history. Visit the Evansville Museum of Arts, History & Science, tour the historic USS LST-325 World War II ship, or discover the region's past at Angel Mounds State Historic Site.
  • Enjoying outdoor recreation. Spend time hiking, biking, walking nature trails, exploring Wesselman Woods, or enjoying parks and recreational areas throughout the region.
  • Discovering downtown Evansville. Explore local restaurants, coffee shops, arts and entertainment venues, concerts, museums, and community events.
  • Experiencing college life. Discover the atmosphere and activities surrounding the University of Southern Indiana and the University of Evansville, with opportunities to learn about American college culture.
  • Taking regional adventures. Explore nearby Newburgh and its Ohio River charm, discover historic New Harmony, or enjoy day trips to nearby communities in Indiana, Kentucky, and Illinois.
  • Making everyday American memories. Celebrate Thanksgiving and Christmas, enjoy summer cookouts, visit pumpkin patches, try local foods, attend school dances, and participate in family traditions.

Evansville's location in the Tri-State region also creates opportunities for host families to explore nearby destinations when time and schedules allow. Students can experience the character of southwestern Indiana while discovering the wider region.

These experiences don't need to be expensive or elaborate. Sometimes the most memorable moments are a Friday-night basketball game, a family dinner, a community festival, or an afternoon exploring somewhere new.

The goal is to help students become part of everyday American life, not simply visit as tourists.

4. Support Students, Host Families, and Schools

Once a student arrives, you'll help ensure they are adjusting well and receiving the support they need throughout their exchange experience.

Responsibilities include:

  • Welcoming students and helping them connect with their new community.
  • Maintaining regular communication with students and host families.
  • Completing required supervision visits and ongoing check-ins.
  • Encouraging students to participate in school activities, clubs, sports, and community events.
  • Helping students and host families work through questions or concerns.
  • Communicating significant issues to Pan Atlantic Foundation staff.
  • Serving as a local resource throughout the exchange experience.

You won't be expected to navigate every situation alone. Pan Atlantic Foundation provides training, resources, and ongoing support, including 24/7 emergency assistance.

Who Would Be a Great Fit?

We're looking for someone who is:

  • Friendly, dependable, and comfortable meeting new people.
  • A natural relationship builder who enjoys connecting with families and community members.
  • Organized and able to manage responsibilities independently.
  • Comfortable communicating with parents, teenagers, educators, and community leaders.
  • Willing to make phone calls, follow up, and build relationships over time.
  • Able to handle sensitive situations with maturity and good judgment.
  • Excited about cultural exchange and helping young people succeed.
  • Interested in becoming involved in the local community.

Experience in education, recruiting, coaching, customer service, sales, youth programs, nonprofit organizations, hospitality, counseling, family services, or community leadership can be helpful, but previous exchange program experience is not required.

Training and ongoing program support are provided.

Candidates must be at least 25 years old and successfully complete the required background check.

A Flexible Part-Time Opportunity That Fits Around Your Life

This isn't a traditional 9-to-5 job. It's a flexible, community-based opportunity that can fit around your existing career, family responsibilities, and personal schedule.

Some responsibilities can be completed from home, while others involve meeting prospective host families, communicating with schools, attending community events, or checking in with students.

Your schedule will vary based on student placements and program responsibilities. Success requires initiative, consistent follow-through, and a willingness to build relationships over time.

Whether you're a working professional, educator, parent, retired, or simply looking for meaningful part-time work, this role offers an opportunity to make a difference without committing to a traditional full-time position.

Compensation and Opportunities

  • $1,000 per successful student placement
  • Flexible, part-time independent contractor position (1099)
  • No traditional hourly wage or salaried base
  • Opportunities to earn international travel through qualifying program incentives
  • Training, resources, and ongoing support from Pan Atlantic Foundation

Compensation is placement-based, so earnings depend on successful placements and program requirements.

Your Evansville Territory

The primary focus will be Evansville and surrounding southwestern Indiana communities, with outreach and student support extending into nearby areas as appropriate.

Potential communities may include:

  • Evansville
  • Newburgh
  • Boonville
  • Mount Vernon
  • Princeton
  • Chandler
  • Surrounding communities in Vanderburgh, Warrick, Posey, and Gibson counties, depending on school participation and territory needs

We're especially interested in candidates who have connections with:

  • Local high schools and educators.
  • Parent and family networks.
  • Youth and sports organizations.
  • Churches and faith communities.
  • Civic groups and community organizations.
  • Local businesses and employers.
  • Community festivals, events, and recreational programs.

You don't need an established network in every community. You simply need to be willing to build one.

Why Become a Pan Atlantic Area Representative?

This opportunity gives you a chance to:

  • Make a meaningful difference in a young person's life.
  • Help local families experience another culture without leaving home.
  • Build relationships throughout your community.
  • Work independently with a flexible schedule.
  • Develop recruiting, communication, and community outreach skills.
  • Become part of an international exchange network.
  • Earn income through successful student placements.
  • Pursue opportunities for international travel.

Most importantly, you'll help create the kind of experience an exchange student dreams about when they decide to spend a semester or academic year in America.

Evansville Has a Story to Share. Help the World Experience It.

International exchange is about more than introducing students to America. It's about building friendships, sharing traditions, discovering new perspectives, and creating connections that cross borders.
