Position Title: ASL Interpreter
Start Date: 7/29/2026 through the end of the 2027 school year
Location: Summerville, SC
Hours: 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (subject to change)

Position Summary
The ASL Interpreter provides interpretation and transliteration services for students who are deaf or hard of hearing. This includes supporting communication access in academic settings, participating in IEP development, and collaborating with staff to ensure students can fully engage with the curriculum.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s or Bachelor’s preferred)
Current ASL interpreter certification (RID or state equivalent)
Proficiency in ASL and understanding of Deaf culture
Experience working with individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing
Ability to interpret and transliterate between ASL and spoken English
Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
Ability to build effective working relationships with students, staff, and families
Position Responsibilities
Provide interpretation during instruction, meetings, and school activities
Collaborate with special education teams and participate in IEP meetings
Facilitate communication between students, staff, and parents
Support the use of assistive technology and related resources
Maintain confidentiality and professionalism
Document and report student progress per district and IEP guidelines
Manage time effectively and prioritize student needs
Perform additional duties as assigned
