Job Description
Western Engineering Co Inc is seeking a skilled Asphalt Roller Operator to join our team. In this vital role, you will operate various types of asphalt rollers to compact asphalt surfaces to ensure high-quality and durable pavement. Your attention to detail and commitment to safety will help us maintain our reputation for delivering top-notch work on every project. As part of our crew, you will work collaboratively with other equipment operators, laborers, and foremen to ensure efficient operations on site. Responsibilities
- Operate asphalt rollers to compact asphalt materials effectively
- Monitor and adjust the roller’s settings to achieve the desired density and smoothness
- Perform pre-operational inspections of the equipment and troubleshoot any issues before and during operating
- Coordinate with crew members to ensure efficient workflow and safe practices on site
- Communicate effectively with foremen and project managers regarding project needs and conditions
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment by following all safety policies and regulations
- Assist in the setup and teardown of work sites as necessary.
Requirements
- Previous experience operating asphalt rollers or other heavy equipment is required
- Strong understanding of asphalt compaction principles and practices
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to safety
- Ability to work well in a team environment and communicate effectively
- Physical stamina to handle outdoor work and operate heavy machinery
- Ability to work a flexible schedule and travel to different job sites in Iowa and Nebraska
- Ability to troubleshoot and solve issues as they arise
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver's license
- Pass pre-employment drug screening.
