Job Description
Title: Assistant Attorney General, Multi-County Grand Jury Unit- Legal Research & Writing Emphasis
Salary Range: $75,000 to $140,000 - commensurate with experience and qualifications
Location: Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
The Oklahoma Office of the Attorney General is currently seeking an Assistant Attorney General for our Multi-County Grand Jury Unit. The Multi-County Grand Jury Unit investigates and prosecutes crimes throughout Oklahoma with an emphasis on public corruption, complex crimes, and crimes with state-wide impact. The Unit also assists the 27 Oklahoma District Attorneys when requested or when a District Attorney is conflicted out of an investigation or prosecution.
Position Summary:
The ideal candidate will display excellent legal research and writing skills, good judgment, and be detail oriented. The successful candidate will be responsible for drafting pleadings including motions, responses, and briefs in cases ranging from murder to complex criminal fraud prosecutions. The majority of briefing will be at the state district court level, however, occasional briefing to the Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals will be required. The successful candidate will also be afforded the opportunity to participate as a courtroom prosecutor in active criminal prosecutions dependent upon the candidate's interests and abilities.
Qualifications:
Applicants must be licensed attorneys in the State of Oklahoma or be eligible to become licensed. Prosecution experience and/or experience drafting legal briefs on behalf of a state or federal prosecutorial agency is preferred but not required.
