Position Overview
The Assistant Construction Manager supports the Construction Project Manager, Site Manager, EPC Project Manager, and Program Manager in managing project safety, quality, schedule, and cost control across a diverse portfolio of infrastructure and EPC projects.
This role contributes to the successful execution of Engineer Procure Construct (EPC) projects, construction management, and program management initiatives across industries including aviation, commercial, energy, oil & gas, transmission & distribution, transportation, and water.
Key Responsibilities
- Support implementation of Safety & Health programs and collaborate with project teams to maintain compliance.
- Assist with client relationship management and proposal-related activities.
- Participate in internal and external project risk reviews; coordinate with Legal as needed.
- Support development and execution of Project Execution Plans, Quality Assurance Plans, Safety Plans, Staffing Plans, Procurement Plans, and Subcontracting Plans.
- Contribute to negotiation and administration of prime contracts, subcontracts, purchase orders, and change orders.
- Assist with project mobilization and demobilization planning.
- Secure necessary permits and support bidder prequalification efforts.
- Prepare RFPs, support scope development, and assist in subcontractor selection and contract documentation.
- Execute contract administration functions including RFIs, submittals, meeting minutes, and change management.
- Support cost reporting, scheduling, and project controls, including WBS and field progress tracking.
- Monitor invoicing processes for prime contracts, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Maintain project documentation systems and ensure compliance with insurance, licensure, and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct safety, quality, financial audits, and project assessments.
- Oversee materials receiving, inventory control, and logistics coordination.
- Support project turnover, record retention, warranty tracking, and closeout processes.
- Assist with project labor agreements and ensure adherence to company policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (experience may substitute for degree)
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of relevant construction project experience
Certifications:
- OSHA 10-hour certification strongly preferred
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Access)
- Experience with document control, scheduling, cost control, and project management software
Core Competencies:

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced construction environment
- Ability to meet company driving requirements
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in aviation, commercial, energy, government, oil & gas, manufacturing, process, transmission & distribution, transportation, or water projects
- Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Experience executing EPC or program management projects
