Job Description

The Assistant Corporate Safety Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of employees across all corporate and construction sites. This position entails the development, implementation, and oversight of safety policies and procedures, promoting a culture of safety and compliance with regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills to assess risks, provide training to staff, and work collaboratively to enhance the organization's safety programs.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement safety policies and procedures
  • Oversee and monitor compliance with regulatory standards
  • Promote a culture of safety across all corporate and construction sites
  • Assess risks and analyze safety data
  • Provide safety training to staff
  • Collaborate with various departments to enhance safety programs
  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections
  • Investigate incidents and take corrective actions
  • Maintain safety and training records and documentation
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Conduct regular safety audits, inspections and all other field-safety requirements as necessary
  • Contribute to and assist with implementing safety policies and procedures
  • Provide safety training and education to employees
  • Investigate accidents and incidents to determine causes and prevent recurrences
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations
  • Analyze safety data and trends
  • Collaborate with management to promote a culture of safety
  • Respond promptly to safety-related issues and emergencies
  • Provide safety support to field teams
  • Help collect and organize safety-related information involving subcontractors, visitors and other project partners

Education/Experience:

  • Minimum of high school diploma or GED, with preference for an associate or bachelor's degree in one of the following or a related field: Occupational Safety; Construction Management; Engineering; or Environmental Health and Safety.
  • 0-3 years in either safety, construction, and/or field operations experience
  • Valid driver license and acceptable driving record required
  • Certifications:
  • OSHA 30 (required)
  • First-Aid/CPR/AED (certification preferred and ability to complete/renew upon hiring
  • required)
  • OSHA 510 (preferred)
  • Certifications through the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (preferred)
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and compliance requirements
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to conduct thorough risk assessments and incident investigations
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Experience with safety training and development programs

Travel Requirements:

  • Travel with in contiguous United States and Hawaii Flexibility to travel on short notice for urgent business needs, to attend meetings, trainings, and events.
  • Flexibility to travel for extended periods of time including all 7 days of the week.
  • Travel requirement is at least 50%.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor and appearance during business trips.
  • Compliance with company travel policies and procedures.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk, climb stairs and move around active construction sites for long periods of time.
  • Ability to use a computer, phone, printer, scanner, and other office equipment.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 25 50 pounds of files, documents, and materials as needed.
  • Visual acuity for detailed work and computer use.
  • Ability to wear all required PPE.
  • Ability to work as/when needed includes all 7 days of the week, days or nights.
  • Ability to work in varied site conditions including outdoor conditions, cold or warm environments and active general industry or construction areas.
