Job Description
This posting is for a full-time, 10-month, exempt position. This position is responsible to provide quality mental health services to a college student population through individual, couple, and group counseling, crisis intervention, and consultation, including ethical/legal documentation, treatment planning, and diagnostic assessments as appropriate. The Assistant Director will assist in the development and implementation of a proactive, creative outreach program targeting areas of alcohol and other drug (AOD), mental health/ college student development and social health issues. This includes but is not limited to campus and community presentations, print media and web-based education and support.
The Assistant Director will also be responsible for collaborating with key university and external constituencies including student services, faculty, parents, and community resources.
Essential Functions
Provide individual, couple and group counseling to students.
Maintain timely, accurate, and ethical documentation consistent with governing laws and ethics.
Conduct triage assessment and intervention for urgent/walk-in appointments.
Work collaboratively across university departments to ensure delivery of integrated professional services, including campus/community committee work.
Provide after-hours on-call crisis response/consultation as needed.
Provide professional consultation to all members of the University community, including faculty, staff, students, and parents. Serve as liaison for referrals for faculty, staff, students, parents.
Assist in developing and providing mental health-related outreach education and prevention efforts including classroom presentations, workshops, comprehensive planning /strategic programming and web-based education and support.
Work collaboratively with the Senior Director of Counseling Services and within the university, division of student affairs, and the community to manage an adaptive and responsive mental health delivery system based on best practices.
Provide administrative and clinical supervision as needed in Director's absence.
Perform all other duties deemed appropriate for the position.

This position will provide clinical supervision as requested to license-dependent staff.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
Physical Demands
This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time 10-month position, and general hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This position will necessitate occasional evening, weekend, and limited summer hours.
Travel
No travel expected for this position.
Required Education and Experience
A minimum of a Master's degree in a mental health discipline (counseling, clinical/counseling psychology, clinical social work)
A minimum of three years of post-graduate experience as a mental health professional.
Independently licensed in the State of Ohio with supervisory designation, authorizing both independent clinical practice and the provision of supervision to trainees, interns, and license-dependent staff, with demonstrated clinical experience and compliance with applicable legal and ethical standards.

Candidates must possess a collaborative spirit, be enthusiastic about service-delivery to college student population, and be team oriented. The University Counseling Services is an integral part of a strong and cooperative division of Student Services.
Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills, public speaking skills and interpersonal skills.
Prior experience in prevention and outreach programming viewed favorably.
Seeking solid generalist with knowledge of, and experience providing, a broad range of psychotherapy and counseling methods within a time-limited scope of service. Experienced in substance abuse, eating disorders, and trauma is a plus.
Knowledge, skill, and ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds.
Experience with mental health provision in a college or university counseling center.
Knowledge of and ability to use crisis intervention skills.
Ability to consult and collaborate both within and outside the University.
Ability to use independent judgment and be dedicated to protecting confidential information.
Adherence to mental health profession code of ethics.
