Job Description

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Comply with all requirements of 291 Licensure.
  • Compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations to include NYSED Guidelines.
  • Responsible for the provision of health services as defined in the job description for Residential Program’s Nurse.
  • Ensures the health care needs of all individuals are met and provided for in accordance with the Nurse practice Act of NYS.
  • Helps develop and maintain systems that assure that all OCFS Programs are operating within regulatory guidelines an accordance with OCFS.
  • Coordinate the weekly pediatric and psychiatric clinic appointments and information.
  • Provide for staff and residents educational in-service training related to health concerns.
  • Provides regular consultation with the residential nursing staff regarding the resident's health care management.
  • Directs and supervises nursing staff in regard to health record of each individual.
  • In the absence of Director of Health Services, they will assume the duties related to providing supervision of the Residential and Community Services health care staff, and oversight of the health services.
  • Oversees with direction from Director of Health Services planning orientation of new staff.
  • Oversees consult notes after doctor appointments and makes appointments and appropriate follow up arrangements with testing, specialists, medication changes, and ordering.
  • Oversees implementation of resident's care
  • In correlation with Director of Health Service will assist Daily Supervision of Residential Nursing Staff. Director of Health Service will remain responsible for disciplinary actions and evaluations.
  • Maintain confidentially in accordance with agency policy and HIPPA regulations.
  • Attend agency in-service trainings.
  • Attend educational training, conferences or lectures when available.
  • Written and oral communication is expressed in a well-organized idea clearly and concisely. 
  • Promotes and supports cultural diversity and competence and is strength-based.

Required Education, Knowledge and Skills:

  • NYS license as a registered nurse with at least 5 years' experience.
  • Demonstrated competence in pediatric, developmental disabilities or psychiatric nursing with at least 1 years' experience.
  • Previous supervisory experience.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.

Abilities and Working Conditions:

  • Must be available to work a 40-hour work week.
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds.
  • Must be able to work on your feet for moderate periods of time.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Willingness to respond to the needs of a culturally population.

Compensation: $74,000-$81,000 annually
