Job Description

Assistant Director of Nursing

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to support the Director of Nursing in leading and managing the nursing department within our skilled nursing facility. The ADON plays a key role in ensuring high-quality clinical care, regulatory compliance, and staff development while fostering a collaborative and resident-centered environment.

Key responsibilities:

  • Assist the Director of Nursing in the overall management of nursing services

  • Provide clinical leadership, mentorship, and support to nursing staff

  • Oversee day-to-day clinical operations, including staffing and workflow

  • Participate in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) initiatives

  • Monitor clinical outcomes such as wounds, falls, infections, and rehospitalizations

  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, including CMS standards

  • Support staff education, training, and competency validation

  • Assist with scheduling, staffing, and performance evaluations

  • Serve as a clinical resource and assist with complex resident care needs

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to promote optimal resident outcomes

  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR)

Minimum qualifications:

  • Current RN license in the state of employment.

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of nursing experience in skilled nursing or long-term care

  • Prior leadership or charge nurse experience preferred

  • Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and clinical best practices

  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to lead, coach, and motivate nursing staff

  • Experience with electronic medical records (EMR).

Physical/other requirements:

  • Ability to lift/move residents and stand for extended periods.

  • Pass background check, drug screen, and TB/health screening per facility policy.

Schedule:

Full-time, salaried position with flexibility as needed to support the clinical operations; on-call responsibilities as needed.
