Assistant Electrical Detailer (Contract-to-Hire)Location: Kansas City

Position Overview We are seeking an Assistant Electrical Detailer for a contract-to-hire opportunity in Kansas City, MO. The Assistant Electrical Detailer supports the production of engineering drawings and project deliverables for utility and infrastructure projects. This role is well-suited for a detail-oriented CAD professional with strong drafting fundamentals who enjoys producing accurate, organized, and high-quality construction drawings. Training will be provided for utility-specific design practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of engineering drawings using AutoCAD and Autodesk Civil 3D
• Produce accurate plans, profiles, details, and construction drawings from engineering markups, sketches, and verbal direction
• Assist in developing overhead (OH) and underground (UG) utility plans and profiles
• Prepare and revise drawing packages for permitting and project submittals
• Clean up, organize, and maintain CAD files in compliance with company and client drafting standards
• Maintain organized project files and drawing documentation
• Support production of project deliverables while meeting schedule and quality expectations
• Assist with QA/QC processes and implement revisions to improve drawing accuracy and consistency
• Communicate effectively with engineers and project team members regarding drawing revisions, priorities, and workload
• Maintain proficiency with current CAD tools and drafting standards while learning utility design workflows

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Drafting Technology or related field with minimum 2 years of related experience OR
• Associate degree with minimum 3 years of related experience OR
• High School Diploma/GED with minimum 4 years of progressive detailing and design experience (required)

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

• Strong proficiency in CAD drafting fundamentals
• Experience producing construction drawings, plans, and details
• High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple drawing revisions
• Strong organizational skills for maintaining CAD files and project documentation
• Effective communication skills with engineering and project teams
• Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment and meet deadlines
