Position Overview

Our client is seeking an Assistant Electrical Detailer to support electrical design and drafting teams on a variety of projects. This position will assist with developing plans and preparing non-routine drawings with complex features using information from rough sketches, detailed engineering notes, and verbal guidance.

The Assistant Electrical Detailer will work as part of a multidisciplinary team and have the opportunity to contribute to a diverse portfolio of projects and clients. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in CAD drafting, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to learn and effectively utilize new design technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with a full range of drawing production and detailing activities.
• Prepare electrical drawings and project deliverables efficiently and in accordance with project requirements.
• Assist with CAD drawing production and overall project execution.
• Prepare, print, scan, organize, and submit drawing packages.
• Maintain proficiency in current CAD systems and continue developing technical capabilities.
• Utilize multiple software applications as required to complete project deliverables.
• Assist with training, mentoring, and developing less-experienced staff as appropriate.
• Review and adhere to project scope, schedule, and budget requirements.
• Assist with resource management and workload coordination.
• Identify priority tasks and assist with developing plans for execution.
• Communicate workload, priorities, and project status with team members and management.
• Maintain records of client and company CAD standards.
• Provide quality feedback and assist in identifying opportunities for improvement.
• Assist with project QA/QC processes to ensure accurate and high-quality deliverables.
• Work collaboratively with Project Managers, Engineers, Designers, and other team members to resolve drawing and design issues.
• Support multiple projects and priorities while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.

Required Qualifications

Candidates must meet one of the following educational and experience requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Drafting Technology or a related field with a minimum of 2 years of related experience; or
• Associate degree in Drafting Technology or a related field with a minimum of 3 years of related experience; or
• High School Diploma/GED with a minimum of 4 years of progressive detailing and design experience.

Additional qualifications include:

• Experience or background in CAD drafting and design.
• Basic understanding of design software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, and Microsoft Excel.
• Ability to learn and effectively utilize new design software and technologies.
• Ability to utilize both 2D and 3D applications to prepare engineering drawings.
• Basic knowledge of design principles, calculations, and design systems.
• Basic understanding of engineering discipline theories and practices.
• Understanding of fundamental concepts of related engineering disciplines as they apply to assigned projects.
• Ability to operate discipline-specific design software necessary to execute production tasks.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate work.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, multidisciplinary project environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience supporting electrical engineering or electrical design projects.
• Experience with GIS or exposure to GIS-related applications.
• Familiarity with electrical drafting standards and engineering drawing practices.
• Experience working with both 2D and 3D CAD applications.
• Previous experience working in a consulting engineering, construction, or engineering design environment.
