The attorney will be a trusted business partner to Micron’s multi-billion-dollar technology and business teams and will be responsible for a wide range of complex licensing engagements and IP transactions. The attorney will interact closely with Micron’s leadership teams to develop strategies for achieving technology and business goals while protecting IP and managing risk.

Responsibilities include the following:

  • Provide pragmatic legal advice and solutions to support technology and business teams in meeting strategic goals and improving customer relationships

  • Provide advice on government-funded research programs and negotiate government contracts, subcontracts and grants related to development of technology with federal agencies, national laboratories and government-funded groups

  • Partner effectively with M&A teams to facilitate IP due diligence and draft associated IP agreements

  • Provide day-to-day legal advice to build and protect Micron’s IP assets.  Develop an intimate understanding of new technologies relevant to Micron. Work both autonomously and collaboratively to balance competing priorities in a fast-paced, challenging environment

  • Assist in developing and training on corporate policies and procedures, such as open source, trade secret protection, data security, product security, confidentiality, and contract compliance

Minimum Qualifications

  • JD from an ABA accredited law school and a current member of the bar in good standing

  • At least seven years of experience drafting and negotiating complex IP licensing agreements, along with an excellent working and practical knowledge of IP law across geographies

  • Strong attention to business details, a strategic perspective, and a high degree of ethics and integrity

  • Experience working in an in-house legal environment

  • Top law firm and corporate experience in the semiconductor or adjacent industry

  • Located within a reasonable distance from Micron office, or willing to relocate

Preferred Qualifications

  • A strong executive presence in interactions with senior leadership

  • The ability to collaborate and build relationships, gain credibility, and partner with others

  • The ability to thoughtfully leverage AI-powered tools and systems while exercising strong legal judgment, data governance, and risk awareness
