Job Description

The Arizona College of Optometry seeks a faculty optometrist with expertise in neurorehabilitation, acquired brain injury, vision therapy, binocular vision, and/or pediatrics. The successful candidate will contribute to didactic instruction, clinical education, interdisciplinary patient care, and scholarly activity within the Eye and Therapy Institutes.

Responsibilities

Teaching & Clinical Education

  • Teach didactic courses and/or laboratories in neuro-optometry, vision therapy, pediatrics, and related areas, as assigned
  • Provide clinical instruction and precept professional students and residents in primary care and specialty clinics, including ABI, vision therapy including sports vision, pediatrics and others as assigned
  • Support and enhance a high‑quality clinical learning environment through innovative, student‑centered teaching approaches aligned with the O.D. program's educational philosophy
  • Mentor and support students and residents through individualized instruction, feedback, and professional development

Clinical & Interdisciplinary Care

  • Deliver patient‑centered optometric care with a strong interdisciplinary focus, collaborating with therapy and medical professionals
  • Contribute to the development and growth of neuro‑optometric, vision therapy, sports vision and ABI services that meet community needs

Service & Scholarship

  • Participate in curricular assessment, student advising, faculty development, and college/university service
  • Engage in scholarly activity, including research, presentations, and publications
  • Contribute to professional service at the state, regional, or national level

Qualifications

Required

  • Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) from an ACOE‑accredited institution
  • Completion of an ACOE‑accredited residency in neuro-optometry, binocular vision/vision therapy, pediatrics, or related area
  • Eligibility for Arizona optometric licensure

Preferred

  • Clinical or scholarly experience in acquired brain injury, neurorehabilitation, and interdisciplinary care with some interest in Sports Vision
  • Teaching experience in professional or residency education
  • Demonstrated commitment to student success, collaboration, and continuous improvement in optometric education
