Job Summary:

The Department of Pediatrics, Section of Allergy & Immunology, is seeking a Pediatric Allergist/Immunologist to provide oversight and medical management of children with allergic and immunologic diseases in both inpatient and outpatient settings, and to participate in the education of students and residents in accordance with the mission of the University of Colorado School of Medicine's Department of Pediatrics.

Children's Hospital Colorado is a top ten academic Children's Hospital in the US, and together with its satellite locations, has been serving the children of Colorado and surrounding states. It will provide a qualified candidate ample opportunities for career development. The clinical immunology team is supported by a clinical immunology laboratory at Children's Hospital Colorado that offers state of the art services to provide the best care for our patients.

The candidate will also provide oversight and care of patients with asthma, food allergy, allergic rhinitis and conjunctivitis, atopic dermatitis, drug allergy, animal dander sensitivity, insect sting allergy, urticaria, angioedema, anaphylaxis and immunodeficiencies in inpatient and outpatient settings. This will include oversight of food challenges, drug challenges, and providing allergen immunotherapy. These services will be performed at the main campus of Children's Hospital Colorado and at a Network of Care location. The candidate will participate in 6-12 weeks of call coverage for the Section of Allergy and Immunology, including inpatient consultations. The candidate will also participate in the teaching of fellows, residents and medical students assigned to her/his clinic and service rotations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide oversight and care of patients with asthma, food allergy, allergic rhinitis and conjunctivitis, atopic dermatitis, drug allergy, animal dander sensitivity, insect sting allergy, urticaria, angioedema, anaphylaxis, eosinophilic GI disease and immunodeficiencies in inpatient and outpatient settings.

  • Provide services at the main campus of Children's Hospital Colorado (CHCO) and possibly in the Network of Care

  • Participate in call coverage for Section of Allergy & Immunology, including inpatient consultations

  • Collaborate in EoE industry trials

  • Analyze data, prepare and submit manuscripts describing the main findings of clinical studies

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Assistant Professor:

● Completion of a pediatric residence and board certification by the American Board of Allergy and Immunology

● Completion of an accredited Allergy and Immunology Fellowship.

● Recognized as Board Certified/Eligible by the American Board of Allergy and Immunology.

● State of Colorado medical license and DEA license must be obtained on or before the hire date.

Condition of Employment:

● Must successfully pass a drug test through Children's Hospital Colorado

● Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal background check

Preferred Qualifications:

● A minimum of 2 years of experience as a clinical allergist providing independent outpatient and inpatient care

● Prior experience in the evaluation and management of patients with food allergy, including performing food challenges

● Prior experience in the evaluation and management of primary immunodeficiencies

● Prior peer-reviewed publication history

● Experience in teaching subspecialty fellows, residents, and medical students

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

● Knowledge and ability to provide expert oversight and medical management of children with complex allergic and immunologic diseases who often have other significant medical issues

● Strong interpersonal written and verbal communication skills and must be a strong team player.

● Commitment to Patient Safety, Quality Care, Communication, and Customer Service

● Ability to collaborate with physicians, physician assistants, and nurses to form a high performing medical team

● Ability to work within cross-cultural and cross-populations

● Ability to adapt to a dynamic environment

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

Assistant Professor: $187,000 to $200,000

The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
