Job Description

The Carthage College Department of Education seeks an Assistant Professor of Education. This is a full-time, benefits-eligible contract (non-tenure) position. We seek a highly qualified and versatile faculty member with interdisciplinary licensure expertise to support and expand innovative teacher preparation pathways. The department is committed to preparing future educators who can skillfully serve diverse populations by integrating strong pedagogy with culturally responsive, non-biased, and empathetic approaches to teaching and learning. We provide both undergraduate and graduate pathways to licensure as well as a Master's in Education program.Primary ResponsibilitiesTeach general courses for all education students as well as within a specific license area such as CCSE, Bilingual/ Bicultural, or Early Childhood EducationTeach graduate courses as needed/able in a hyflex synchronous/asynchronous format

Lead or contribute to program innovation in high-need certification areas

Participate in departmental service and program leadership initiatives

Required QualificationsPhD or EdD in Education or related field, but will consider a Master's degree with significant experience

Demonstrated expertise in any of the following areas:CCSE (Cross-Categorical Special Education)Bilingual /Bicultural (BL/BC)Early Childhood EducationP–12 teaching experience

Preferred QualificationsExperience working across multiple grade bands or licensure areas

Experience with program design, interdisciplinary teaching, or clinical partnerships

Leadership experience in schools or educator preparation programs
