Job Description

The Department of Mathematics and Systems Engineering at Florida Institute of Technology invites applications for a tenure track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level, to start in August 2026. We are interested in candidates who will develop a research program in the mathematical foundations of artificial intelligence and data science, including areas such as probability, statistical learning theory and theoretical aspects of AI and machine learning.

A Ph.D. in Data Science, Mathematics Statistics, or a closely related field is required. Preference will be given to candidates with a track record and/or potential to establish and sustain a strong research program. The successful candidates are expected to develop and maintain an active, highly visible, extramurally funded research program with outstanding scholarship, teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and contribute to the various service endeavors in the Department, College, and University.

The Department of Mathematics and Systems Engineering is one of the seven departments in the College of Engineering and Science - Florida Tech's largest college and is committed to creating and maintaining a culture of excellence in teaching and research, with the goal of setting the stage for research-based and innovative pedagogies that foster student engagement, learning, and success. It is a dynamic and rapidly growing unit offering undergraduate and graduate degrees, including a B.S. in Applied Mathematics, M.S and Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics, Operations Research, STEM Education and Systems Engineering. We also contribute to multiple degree programs across campus. Faculty in the department lead active, externally funded research programs, build strong partnerships with industry, and collaborate broadly across disciplines. We are dedicated to sustaining a vibrant research culture while offering transformative educational experiences for our students.

Annual Security & Fire Safety Report

The federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act) requires colleges and universities, both public and private, participating in federal student aid programs to disclose campus safety information, and imposes certain basic requirements for handling incidents of sexual violence and emergency situations.

Florida Tech's 2025 Annual Security and Fire Safety Report includes statistics for the previous three years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by Florida Tech; and on public property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from, the campus.

The numbers provided include crime statistics that were reported to local law enforcement agencies, campus security and other Campus Security Authorities.

The report also includes institutional policy statements regarding campus safety and security measures; descriptions of prevention and awareness programs; related university procedures and important guidance; and other essential safety information.

Official Transcripts

Official transcripts of all collegiate work must be sent directly from the attended institution to the Office of Human Resources prior to the first day of employment. All international degrees must have a course-by-course official evaluation and translation sent to the Human Resources Office directly from an evaluation company affiliated with the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services, Inc. (NACES).
