Job Description

The College of Business and Humanities at the University of Findlay invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track position with the rank of Assistant Professor in Religious Studies beginning August 1, 2026. This position has the potential to convert to a tenure-track position at a future date. The successful candidate will bring relevant teaching and professional experience with a general focus on worldwide expressions of Christianity and non-Western religious traditions, and will demonstrate a commitment to ethical leadership, respectful dialogue, and community engagement. The candidate will be expected to regularly teach Religious Studies courses, both in-person and online, for the University's general education program (CORE+), which encourages students to grapple with questions of faith, transcendence, meaning, and vocation.

The minimum requirement for this position is a doctoral degree in Religious Studies or a related field. Those near Ph.D. completion (ABD) will also be considered, but at the instructor level with an expectation that the degree will be completed within one year of appointment. The candidate must possess an interdisciplinary spirit and a desire to work with students in a university setting that prides itself on providing close relationships between students and faculty.

Candidates must have the ability to develop and deliver curriculum, meet the demands of the position in a timely manner, and assess student learning outcomes. In addition, candidates should have outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, and the potential to assume leadership roles within the college.
