Job Description

SUMMARY

We are seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled Technology Associate to join our team, with expertise in audiovisual solutions. This is a hands-on engineering and production role focused on the successful execution of design documentation for complex technology integration projects. In this role, you will collaborate closely with project managers, lead designers, and consultants to interpret client requirements and translate them into clear, coordinated, and technically accurate deliverables. You will be responsible for producing and maintaining all aspects of design documentation, including the basis of design narratives, system schematics, floor plans, riser diagrams, equipment schedules, and performance specifications.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design and document enterprise-class audiovisual, control, and smart building systems, as well as AV/IT network requirements to support the systems
  • Research products and work with manufacturers and vendors to ensure the viability of the system designs
  • Must be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously and work with the project team to produce high-quality deliverables within the project milestone dates
  • Must be able to read architectural drawings and create systems drawings on supplied backgrounds. CAD and/or Revit skills are necessary
  • Participation in architect/engineering teams for the development of new construction and the retrofit of office buildings, healthcare facilities, corporate interior spaces, retail, and residential projects
  • Assist with RFPs and develop proposals, including estimating efforts
  • Assist in marketing and business development processes

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Be detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to multitask and shift priorities in a dynamic environment
  • Demonstrate efficiency and focus while following direction and working independently or as part of a team
  • Strong understanding of existing and emerging technologies, including their integration and interoperability across systems (security, AV, and/or IT infrastructure)
  • Proficiency in drafting and design software such as AutoCAD and/or Revit; experience with BIM coordination is a plus
  • Solid grasp of technical documentation standards, including performance specifications, equipment schedules, and wiring diagrams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey technical information to diverse stakeholders
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges during design and implementation phases
  • Familiarity with industry standards and guidelines (e.g., CTS, RCDD, BICSI, TIA/EIA, NFPA)
  • Ability to collaborate across disciplines, including architecture, engineering, and construction teams
  • Self-motivated with a desire to learn, grow, and contribute to a high-performing project team

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • The background should include systems design and integration, installation, and systems research and development. Project management and AV/IT network design experience are a plus.
  • 3-5 years of experience in audiovisual systems design or design/build field
  • College-level education strongly desired.
  • Desired certifications: AVIXA: CTS or CTS-D (AV)
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
