About the Opportunity
We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established insurance defense firm seeking a Litigation Associate with 3–7 years of experience to support its New York practice. This role is well-suited for an attorney who has either direct New York Labor Law experience or a strong background in insurance defense litigation and is looking to continue developing within a supportive, team-oriented environment.
Associates in this role handle meaningful litigation responsibilities while receiving guidance and mentorship from experienced Partners and senior attorneys.
The Role
As a Litigation Associate, you will manage a caseload of insurance defense matters, contribute to case strategy, and participate in all phases of litigation. You'll work closely with Partners and senior attorneys while maintaining direct involvement in pleadings, discovery, court appearances, and client communication.
This position offers remote flexibility while requiring in-person appearances in New York courts as needed.
Key Responsibilities
Handle insurance defense litigation matters from inception through resolution
Draft pleadings, motions, discovery responses, and legal correspondence
Participate in depositions, court conferences, hearings, and mediations
Collaborate with Partners and senior attorneys on case strategy
Communicate with clients, carriers, and opposing counsel
Maintain accurate and timely case documentation
Required Qualifications
Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
Active admission to the New York Bar (in good standing)
3–7 years of litigation experience
Experience with New York Labor Law or substantial experience in insurance defense litigation
Prior experience working within a law firm handling litigation matters
Preferred Experience & Skills
Background in construction accident or general liability defense
Strong legal writing and analytical skills
Comfort managing a caseload with appropriate supervision
Professional courtroom presence and communication skills
Interest in continued professional development and mentorship
