Job Description

Description

We are looking for an Associate Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to assist in the operation and evolution of the infrastructure that powers our SaaS platform for labor market data. This role sits at the intersection of traditional IT, cloud engineering, and DevOps.

You'll work alongside engineers, developers, data scientists, and data analysts.

You should be comfortable jumping between routine IT administration, end-user issues, core infrastructure work, and deeper engineering tasks. We value people who can see the big picture, effectively prioritize, actively use documentation and tooling to solve problems, are curious about technology, willing to experiment, and approach problems from multiple angles.

Responsibilities Include:

  • End-User & Help Desk Support (~10%)

  • Provide remote and on-site IT support for internal staff using laptops, mobile devices, and core productivity applications.

  • Help identify recurring issues and suggest process or tooling improvements to reduce them over time.

  • Core Systems Administration (~40-50%)

  • Manage Active Directory and Entra ID/Azure AD objects: users, groups, security, and group policies.

  • Administer the Microsoft 365 stack: Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, and licensing.

  • Administer and maintain on-premise infrastructure, including Dell servers, storage, and network components.

  • Manage Intune for device enrollment, policies, compliance, and software deployment for our fleet of laptops.

  • Handle user lifecycle operations: onboarding, off-boarding, access provisioning/deprovisioning, and hardware prep/returns.

  • Support core infrastructure services: DNS, DHCP, VPN, file-sharing, MFA, and LAN/WAN networking.

  • Participate in security response: investigate alerts, contain and remediate issues, and assist with patching and hardening.

  • Maintain and improve monitoring and observability using tools like Prometheus and Logstash.

  • Document configurations, standard operating procedures, and runbooks.

  • Systems Engineering, Cloud & DevOps (~40-50%)

  • Assist in designing and implementing infrastructure solutions on Microsoft Azure, including resource provisioning, networking, identity, and security.

  • Help administer and support AKS (Azure Kubernetes Service): deployments, upgrades, cluster/node maintenance, and troubleshooting.

  • Work with Azure DevOps pipelines and repositories: participate in CI/CD workflows, infrastructure deployments, and automation.

  • Support and maintain our core data and application infrastructure.

  • Automate routine tasks using scripting tools (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python) to improve reliability and reduce manual effort.

  • Collaborate with other engineering teams to provide the infrastructure and tools they need to deliver features, data, and functionality.

  • Participate in solution design discussions, bringing a practical operational perspective that balances reliability, security, longevity, and performance.

Requirements

  • 2-4 years of experience in an IT support, systems administration, or similar role in a business environment.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience managing Windows-based environments.
  • Windows Server, Microsoft 365, and Active Directory administration experience.
  • Experience with Azure in a production setting.
  • Familiarity with virtualization (preferably Hyper-V) and server hardware.
  • Experience managing or supporting Intune or a similar endpoint management platform.
  • Comfort working with core infrastructure and networking technologies: DNS, DHCP, VPN, basic LAN/WAN, firewalls.
  • Exposure to containerization and Kubernetes: deployments, pods, services, and basic troubleshooting.
  • Experience with or strong interest in DevOps practices and tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, Git, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code).
  • Ability to read, understand, and apply technical documentation from vendors and open-source projects.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills, ability to trace issues across endpoints, network, OS, and applications.
  • Great communication and customer service skills; able to talk to both technical and non-technical colleagues.
