Overview
Reporting to the Dean of Academic Affairs, coordinate efforts on academic advising in its many forms across Yale College and provide leadership and strategic direction for special academic programs in Yale College.
Plays an essential role in advancing strategic and tactical priorities.
Takes a lead role in implementing new strategies.
Leads and manages major programs, committees, and staff.
Represents Yale College on major University programs, committees, and projects, both internally and externally.
Takes on other duties as assigned and as needs of Yale College evolve over time.
Direct and reimagine as necessary academic advising for Yale College, including residential college advising, Eli Whitney and transfer student advising, the Summer Peer Advising Program for incoming students, and coordinating and supporting the advising efforts of the directors of undergraduate studies in FAS departments and programs. Coordinate Yale College-wide advising instruments for incoming undergraduates, including placement exams, High School Math & Science Survey, Writing Survey, and the annual Academic Fair. Manage and run all aspects of the Eli Whitney Students Program, work closely with Undergraduate Admissions on the admission of students and with the University Registrar's Office on credit transfer; develop and run the Eli Whitney Student orientation and advising and social activities; work closely with the Veteran/Military Liaison Office and Undergraduate Financial Aid concerning veteran benefits for eligible students in the Eli Whitney Students Program. Manage all aspects of the Transfer Student Program; work with Undergraduate Admissions on the admission of students and with the University Registrar's Office on credit transfer; develop and run transfer student orientation and advising and social activities; hire, train, and manage students for the Transfer Counselor program.
Serve as the Yale College liaison to the Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) programs and primary point of contact for matters affecting Yale College student-veterans. Serve as secretary for the ROTC Advisory Committee and the Eli Whitney Advisory Committee; participate on other committees as needed. Support with student elections and induction ceremonies of the Yale Chapter of Phi Beta Kappa. Represent Yale College in national professional groups, including NEXUS Academic Advising. Collaborate with other Associate Deans of Academic and Student Affairs to organize and facilitate Dean School programming for newly hired residential college deans. Supervise staff and student workers. Maintain the "Advising Resources" website and communicate about advising related matters to students, deans, and DUSs.

Proven ability to develop and manage complex initiatives with flexibility, good judgment, and confidentiality.
Strong communication and listening skills, including success leading and collaborating with diverse groups.
Ability to work effectively with a wide variety of constituencies and maintain a respectful and inclusive community.
Preferred Skills and Abilities:
Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree with significant experience in higher education administration.
Proven experience in residential life and student support in a selective academic environment.
Teaching experience in higher education.
Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong and supportive relationships with colleagues.
