Job Title: Associate Development Scientist- Essential Oils

Department: Research and Development

Reports to: Supervising Scientist- Essential Oil Development

Job Description: Documents, prepares, and tests doTERRA natural raw materials and essential oil products to help build safe, effective, compliant, stable, well-characterized, high-quality products with desired aroma, color, and taste profile through a combination of collaborative, independent, laboratory, and computer-based work.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Create and manage technical documentation for oil products in collaboration with R&D, Quality Assurance and Quality Control teams

  • Review product information pages and labels for accuracy

  • Work with multiple teams to ensure all doTERRA essential oil products and labels comply with applicable safety constraints and market regulations

  • Submit samples to doTERRA analytical laboratories for physical, chemical and stability testing; organize, analyze, report and communicate results

  • Maintain and improve systems for managing complex records and data

  • Supervise laboratory operations, including recording inventory, ordering supplies, and waste management

  • Test solubility and scale-up of unique natural raw materials

  • Batch oil blends in lab as requested

  • Gain expertise in essential oil chemistry, safety, and use

  • Maintain training in GMPs, GLPs, and Organoleptic Evaluation

  • Conduct sensory evaluations

  • Develop and improve systems and SOPs for managing complex records and data

  • Attend scientific conferences, trade shows, and industry meetings as applicable

  • Perform other responsibilities as directed

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry, food science, nutrition, biology or related field required

  • At least 1 year of laboratory experience required

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint

  • Ability to communicate and write effectively

  • Excellent teamwork skills

  • Meticulous attention to detail

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Self-starter with the ability to work with minimal supervision in identifying tasks that need to be completed

  • Ability to manage multiple ongoing projects concurrently and meet deadlines

  • Ability to smell and taste essential oils
