Our Network Office for Academic Excellence and School Excellence teams is located at 425 Westchester Ave., Bronx, NY 10455. In this role, you can expect to work in person most days, including Tuesdays and Thursdays, as well as other days of the week when your work requires it. Depending on the role, team members may have optional remote days on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Friday, as permitted, along with remote flexibility during academic calendar breaks when school is not in session.

Deliver powerful results 

To achieve our vision, we are searching for an Associate Director or Director of High School Science with a Master’s Degree and at least five years of school leadership with a proven record of academic outcomes in Science including, but not limited to, New York State Science exams, Regents exams, and AP exams. The position title will be commensurate with candidate experience relative to Zeta’s organizational levels.

In this role, you will support our team to ensure that students achieve excellent results in Science courses (Environmental Science, AP Chemistry, AP Biology, AP Physics C: Mechanics, etc.) in high school through:

  • Science Vision and Strategy:Design rigorous Science learning experiences that deepen students’ understanding of scientific concepts, strengthen their ability to analyze evidence and data, and develop their skills in scientific reasoning and explanation;
  • Achieve Annual Academic Goals: Lead high school Science with a high bar of excellence to meet rigorous annual goals;
  • Collaboration and Problem Solving: Develop authentic and meaningful relationships across Zeta to collaborate effectively to support growth in service of student learning. View every challenge as an opportunity for root cause analysis and change;
  • Curriculum and Assessment Management: Create and curate curriculum across curriculum and assessment materials aligned with the New York State Learning Standards and our Zeta Learning Competencies, including unit plans, lesson plans, and assessments. Ensure a coherent sequence of learning through unit and lesson plans grounded in critical thinking;
  • Professional Learning: Design and lead professional learning trainings for school principals, assistant principals, and teachers to lead to excellent academic results;
  • Instructional Management: Develop clear instructional management plans to ensure all Science instruction is consistently implemented at a high level. Observe instruction across Zeta schools and develop leaders and teachers in service of ensuring programming is implemented at a high level to lead to exceptional academic outcomes;
  • Data Analysis: Study data to identify gaps and take action to ensure leaders and teachers are using data to increase learning outcomes;
  • Feedback Driven: Embrace a growth mindset. Actively seek, provide, and incorporate feedback, while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration;
  • Wear multiple hats as a part of a lean scale-up team, supporting the work of others on the team and taking on new projects and tasks as needed.

We accepting applications on a rolling basis. The salary range for this position is between $120,000 and $130,000. New hires can expect to be brought into the organization at a salary at or near the start of the range, depending on relevant experience and internal equity. Compensation is based on our salary scales. This position is eligible to receive an annual discretionary, merit-based performance bonus.
