Title: Associate Energy Credit Analyst, Oil & Gas & Reserve-Based LendingOffice Status: Hybrid New York, NYBase Salary: $95k $115k + BonusABOUT THE ROLE This Associate-level credit analyst opportunity sits within the Corporate and Structured Products Credit function of a well-established global financial institution, focused on independent credit analysis and risk assessment across Oil & Gas sector credits with a particular emphasis on Reserve-Based Lending for smaller E&P companies. The role offers meaningful exposure to the full credit lifecycle from initial credit opinion preparation and borrowing base analysis through annual reviews, risk rating recommendations, and senior management presentations with direct engagement with syndicate banks, rating agencies, clients, and law firms. It's an ideal fit for a credit-trained analyst with 3+ years of experience and Oil & Gas industry knowledge who combines strong financial modeling skills with clear, well-organized credit writing and the ability to proactively monitor a portfolio of credits in a dynamic, fast-moving energy sector environment.RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Conduct comprehensive credit analysis covering applicant creditworthiness, loan structure, risk/return assessment, operating profile, financial condition, cash flow, and industry benchmarking including peer comparison and industry trend analysis
  • Prepare accurate, well-organized, and complete written credit opinions with recommendations for approval or decline across new transactions and annual reviews;discuss potential changes to credit structure with branches and agencies
  • Assess small E&P companies with Reserve-Based Lending structures incorporating recommendations from independent reserve engineers, RBL policy, regulatory guidelines, and basin/reserve characteristics into credit opinions
  • Prepare cash flow projections and assess the reasonableness of management assumptions across base and sensitivity cases
  • Present credit approval recommendations and recommend appropriate internal and regulatory risk ratings to senior management
  • Coordinate with Energy relationship managers and portfolio managers;act as liaison between branches, agencies, and other credit departments on credit applications, monitoring, analysis, and policy matters
  • Proactively monitor assigned borrowers and industry subsectors using market data including share price, EDF, CDS, and loan secondary prices;report findings and credit/industry impacts to senior management in a timely manner
  • Directly engage in external meetings and presentations with syndicate banks, rating agencies, clients, and law firms in coordination with coverage bankers and product partners
  • Comply with credit standards, policies, and objectives;play a strong role in ensuring branches and agencies understand and comply with credit policies
