Job Description

About the team

Are you a product enthusiast who loves making cool stuff? R&D is at the heart of product creation for our global Harry's and Flamingo brands. Join our team of passionate engineers, scientists, researchers, technicians, program managers, and more who are on a mission to create insightful, innovative products that fulfill the unmet, sometimes unspoken, needs of our customers. Within R&D, the Hard Products team is the engine behind our shaving business, developing razors, handles, and accessories; anything made from metal or plastic, in any product category. We start the process with customer-focused concept development and take ideas through design, engineering, prototyping, technical testing, user testing, demonstration, and validation, eventually bringing products like our new Harry's Plus razor to market.

About the role

Are you a mechanical engineering enthusiast who loves designing products people use every day? We're seeking an Associate Product Design Engineer to join our Hard Product New Product Introduction (NPI) team. In this role, you'll contribute to the mechanical design and development of our next-generation hard products - including razor handles, cartridges, and accessories - working alongside experienced engineers and with cross-functional partners. You'll build your skills across CAD design, engineering analysis, prototyping, and product testing while gaining a strong foundation in consumer product development. And the best part - you'll play a hands-on role in bringing new products to life!

What you will accomplish

  • Mechanical Design: Contribute to 3D CAD modeling and 2D engineering drawings for product components and assemblies, with guidance from senior engineers. Support design work across our product portfolio - handles, cartridges, accessories, and more.
  • Engineering Analysis: Apply foundational engineering analysis methods - including tolerance analysis, FEA, and DFMEA - to evaluate design performance and help de-risk key decisions.
  • Prototyping & Testing: Support the build and evaluation of prototypes. Help develop test methods and execute engineering tests to validate designs against performance requirements.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with Industrial Design, Program Management, Quality Engineering, Hard Product Innovation, and Reliability Engineering to support product development from concept through launch.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain clear engineering documentation including specifications, DFM, and design rationale to ensure alignment across the team.
  • Continuous Learning: Actively develop your expertise in design, knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, and product development best practices - growing through hands-on work and mentorship from senior engineers.

This should describe you

  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline, or demonstrated equivalent experience.
  • Proficient in 3D CAD software; SolidWorks is preferred.
  • Foundational understanding of GD&T principles and experience creating 2D engineering drawings.
  • Familiar with common manufacturing processes such as injection molding, die casting, or CNC machining.
  • Some exposure to engineering analysis methods - tolerance analysis, FEA, DFMEA, or similar - is a plus.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and genuine curiosity about how products are designed and made.
  • Creative, analytical, and detail-oriented, with a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Self-starter who takes ownership and drives tasks to completion.
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative spirit.
  • Product enthusiast; you have a passion for creating and appreciate a well-designed product.
  • Optional: A design portfolio is welcome, but not required.

Here's who you'll work with

  • Reporting to Senior Product Design Engineer
  • You'll be a member of the Hard Product NPI team within R&D
  • You will work cross-functionally with Industrial Design, Program Management, Quality Engineering, Hard Product Innovation, and Reliability Engineering

Benefits and perks

  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • 401k match
  • Equity in Mammoth Brands
  • Flexible time off and working hours
  • L&D stipend
  • 4 weeks sabbatical after 5 years, 6 weeks after 10 years, and 8 weeks after 15 years
  • 20 fully paid weeks off for parents who give birth, or 16 fully paid weeks off for all other paths to parenthood
  • Fun IRL and virtual events including happy hours, team building events, and parties on our rooftop
  • Free products from our family of brands

The Mammoth Brands' working model is in-office Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Our beautiful 70,000 square foot SoHo office is decked out with bagels on Wednesdays and lunch on Thursdays, and fully stocked kitchens with snacks, coffee, and drinks everyday. Can't forget the free products and the opportunity to have some meetings without Zoom!

We can't quantify all of the intangible things we think you'll love about working at Mammoth Brands, like the exciting challenges we tackle, the smart and humble team you'll get to work with, and our supportive and inclusive culture. That said, our salary ranges are based on paying competitively for our size and industry, and are one part of our total rewards package, which also includes a comprehensive set of benefits and our equity program. The base salary hiring range for this position is $96,475-$113,500, but the final compensation offer will ultimately be based on the candidate's location, skill level and experience.
