Job Description
As a member of an integrated human performance team, the Athletic Trainer supports measurable outcomes, including improved physical readiness test pass rates, reduced musculoskeletal injuries, and enhanced overall soldier resilience. This is more than a traditional athletic training position—it is an opportunity to contribute to large-scale, mission-driven performance initiatives with real operational impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate as part of an interdisciplinary human performance team that may include physical therapists, strength and conditioning coaches, dietitians, cognitive performance specialists, and occupational therapists
- Deliver prevention-focused care, acute injury assessment, and rehabilitation for musculoskeletal conditions
- Support performance optimization efforts across the five readiness domains: physical, mental, nutritional, sleep, and spiritual
- Assist unit leadership with evidence-based strategies to reduce injury risk, enhance recovery, and improve readiness outcomes
- Utilize established data systems and performance tools to monitor progress and guide care delivery
- Contribute to improvements in physical readiness metrics, injury reduction efforts, and overall force resilience
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Graduate of a CAATE-accredited Athletic Training program
Certification & Licensure:
- Passing score on the Board of Certification (BOC) exam
- National Provider Identifier (NPI)
- Unrestricted Athletic Trainer license/registration/certification in any U.S. state or territory
- Ability to obtain in-state licensure during onboarding
Experience:
- Minimum of two years of relevant Athletic Training experience within the past three years
- Experience working with physically active populations (e.g., military, collegiate or professional sports, high school athletics, performing arts, or occupational health)
Credentialing:
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening
- Current physical examination and required immunizations
Physical Requirements
- On-site, hands-on role in a dynamic and operational environment
- Ability to lift and carry up to 45 pounds
- Ability to stand, walk, and work on feet for extended periods
- Willingness to work outdoors and in variable environmental conditions while carrying equipment and supplies
