Athletic Trainer – U.S. Army Holistic Health and Fitness (H2F)
Location: Joint Base Elmendorf‑Richardson (JBER), Anchorage, Alaska Organization: Cognito Systems (Joint Venture with Planned Systems International)
Overview
Cognito Systems is seeking a highly skilled Athletic Trainer to support the U.S. Army’s rapidly expanding Holistic Health and Fitness (H2F) program at Joint Base Elmendorf‑Richardson.
This role goes beyond traditional athletic training. You will be part of the Army’s largest human‑performance initiative—an interdisciplinary effort that has already contributed to:
A 23% increase in Army Combat Fitness Test (ACFT) pass rates
Reduced musculoskeletal injuries
Improved behavioral health and overall readiness
Since its launch in 2018, H2F has expanded to 45 active‑duty brigades, with full implementation across 110 brigades by FY27.
Essential Functions
As an Athletic Trainer supporting H2F, you will:
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including physical therapists, strength coaches, dietitians, cognitive performance specialists, and occupational therapists.
Provide prevention‑focused care, acute injury management, and rehabilitation for musculoskeletal injuries.
Support performance optimization across the five H2F readiness domains: physical, mental, nutritional, sleep, and spiritual.
Advise unit leadership on evidence‑based strategies to reduce injuries and enhance readiness.
Utilize CIMT‑developed tools and data systems to track and improve performance outcomes.
Contribute directly to improved soldier performance, resilience, and ACFT success rates.
Minimum Requirements
Education & Credentials
Bachelor’s degree
Graduate of a CAATE‑accredited Athletic Training program
Passing score on the BOC exam
National Provider Identifier (NPI)
Unrestricted state license/registration/certification in any regulated U.S. jurisdiction
Ability to obtain in‑state licensure during onboarding
Experience
Minimum 2 years of relevant athletic training experience within the last 3 years
Experience with active populations (military, high school, collegiate, professional sports, performing arts, occupational health)
