Job Description
Our client, a well respected litigation firm is seeking an experienced attorney to join its maritime, energy, and general casualty litigation practice. This position offers the opportunity to work on complex, high-stakes matters for long-standing domestic and international clients, including major insurers, maritime operators, and energy companies.
This role is ideal for a litigation-focused attorney who enjoys taking ownership of cases, developing strategy, and gaining meaningful courtroom exposure while working alongside experienced trial attorneys in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Manage maritime, energy, and general casualty litigation matters from initial case evaluation through final resolution
Develop and implement litigation strategies, including handling motion practice, managing discovery, and taking and defending depositions
Oversee all aspects of case management, including client communication, budgeting, and coordination with experts and consultants
Represent clients in hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials as appropriate
Draft and argue substantive motions and prepare pleadings, briefs, and legal memoranda
Work directly with national and international clients, including insurers, underwriters, and corporate entities
Collaborate with partners and senior litigators on trial preparation and complex litigation strategy
Qualifications
Minimum 5+ years of litigation experience in a law firm environment
Strong experience with motion practice, discovery management, depositions, and case strategy
Trial and courtroom experience preferred, though strong litigators seeking increased trial exposure are encouraged to apply
Prior experience in maritime, energy, insurance defense, or general casualty litigation is highly desirable
Licensed to practice law in Louisiana and in good standing
Excellent legal research, analytical, and persuasive writing skills
Strong advocacy, communication, and organizational abilities
Ability to manage cases independently while contributing effectively within a team-based litigation practice
