Audit & Client Accounting Associate – Nonprofit FocusPublic Accounting | Hybrid | Full-Time | $75,000 – $100,000
A well-established and highly respected public accounting firm is seeking a Staff or Senior-level Audit & Client Accounting Associate with experience serving nonprofit organizations.
This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys working closely with mission-driven organizations and wants a blend of audit and client accounting responsibilities in a collaborative, small-firm environment.
Position Overview
This role will focus primarily on nonprofit audit engagements while also supporting client accounting and bookkeeping functions for nonprofit clients. The firm offers a stable client base, strong leadership, and a hybrid work environment.
Key Responsibilities
Audit (Nonprofit Focus)
- Perform audit procedures for nonprofit organizations
- Assist with planning and execution of audit engagements
- Prepare audit workpapers and supporting documentation
- Communicate with clients regarding financial reporting and audit findings
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards
Client Accounting / Bookkeeping
- Perform bookkeeping and general ledger maintenance for nonprofit clients
- Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
- Reconcile bank and balance sheet accounts
- Support clients with financial reporting and accounting questions
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
- 1–5+ years of experience in public accounting
- Direct experience auditing nonprofit organizations (required)
- Experience with client accounting/bookkeeping in a public accounting setting
- Proficiency in QuickBooks Online
- Experience with UltraTax is a plus (this is not a tax-focused role)
- CPA or CPA track preferred but not required
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $75,000 – $100,000, depending on experience
