Job Description: Automation Maintenance TechnicianDepartment: Maintenance Status: Non-ExemptReports To: Maintenance Manager Revision Date: NAPay Rate: $34.00 - $38.00 an hour, depending on experienceDescription: This position is for a technician experienced in the automation process. Duties include industrial electrical panel fabrication and build. Component layout of electrical enclosures. Electrical assemblies’ controls and wiring. Diagnose PLC programs and modifications to programs. Testing and troubleshooting electrical equipment. Retro fitting motors, drives and components. Works on multiple projects simultaneously.Essential Job Functions: % of Time
- Design and build electrical enclosures 30%
- Automation process 45%
- Basic maintenance duties 25%
- Mechanical – Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance.
- Mathematics – Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry and statistics.
- Electrical – Understanding electrical principles and wiring of equipment AC and DC.
- Engineering and Technology – Knowledge of engineering science and technology. § PLC Programming is a must.
- Critical Thinking – Use logic to identify approaches to problems, solutions and drawing conclusions.
- Time Management – Managing your own time.
- Instructing – Must be able to teach others how to perform tasks.
- Repairing – Repairing machines as well as the facility.
- Equipment Maintenance – Performing PM maintenance and determining when and what is needed.
- Troubleshooting – Determining causes of errors and deciding a plan of action to correct the error.
- Written Comprehension – The ability to read and understand information and ideas in written form.
- Oral Expression – The ability to communicate their thoughts and information so that others will understand.
- Visualization – The ability to imagine how something will look after it is moved, rearranged, or modified.
- Technical Drawing – Ability to understand technical drawings as well as creating basic drawings in AutoCAD.
- Fabrication – Ability to design and fabricate basic equipment and components.
- Ability to push 100 pounds (Equipment and Machinery); ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds. Ability to frequently lift up to 25 lbs.
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time, as well as ability to work overhead for periods of time.
- Ability to climb ladder and step ladder.
- Bending at the waist, sitting, kneeling, laying horizontal, walking, etc..., as job may require.
- Ability to see details at a close range. Color Vision.
- Requires high manual dexterity and fine motor skills in both hands.
- Highly motivated with a desire to excel at their work and willingness to learn.
- Patient, and not easily frustrated. Ability to work in teams and across departments to meet company needs.
- The ability to plan and multitask.
