Job Description
Ray's Truck Service is hiring a mid-level Automotive Technician to join our Saco, ME shop. If you've got a few years of wrenching under you, can diagnose and repair most of what rolls through the bay, and you're ready to keep leveling up, this is a shop that'll keep you busy and help you grow. We're part of the NETC Fleet Services family — one of New England's fastest-growing names in towing, recovery, and commercial truck service. That means steady, year-round work, good equipment, and a real path forward. We're not looking for someone to babysit oil changes. We want a technician who takes pride in clean, correct repairs and wants to grow toward ASE Master. What you'll do:
- Diagnose and repair automotive systems — brakes, suspension, steering, electrical, HVAC, and engine performance
- Run modern diagnostic equipment and read the data to find the root cause, not just the symptom
- Perform preventative maintenance and scheduled services
- Perform Maine state safety inspections (with proper licensing)
- Complete A/C service and refrigerant work to EPA standards
- Keep accurate repair records and document your work clearly
- Communicate with the service writer and team to keep jobs moving
- Keep your bay, tools, and work areas clean and safe
- 2–5 years of hands-on automotive repair experience — comfortable working independently on most repairs
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills across mechanical and electrical systems
- Your own set of basic hand tools
- A valid driver's license and a clean driving record
- High school diploma or equivalent; automotive/technical training a plus
- A strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the drive to keep earning certifications
- ASE certification in one or more areas (A4 Steering/Suspension, A5 Brakes, A6 Electrical, A8 Engine Performance) — preferred, with a path and support toward ASE Master Technician
- Maine State Inspection license (Class A inspection mechanic) — required, or willing to obtain
- EPA Section 609 certification for motor vehicle A/C refrigerant handling — required, or willing to obtain
- Manufacturer-specific training a plus
- Competitive pay based on experience: $22.00-$28.00/hour
- Support and time to earn ASE and state certifications
- Steady, year-round work in a growing company
- Medical, dental, and vision plans
- Life and disability coverage
- AFLAC plans
- 401(k) with company match
- Paid time off and holidays
- A growing company where skilled techs move up — toward Master Tech, lead, or foreman
