Position Summary

Promotive is hiring an experienced Automotive Technician for a growing independent repair shop in Des Moines, IA. This is an excellent opportunity for a technician who enjoys heavy line work, works efficiently, and wants the opportunity to turn strong hours in a busy, team-oriented environment.

This shop services a mix of domestic and European vehicles and is looking for a dependable technician who can stay productive, work well with the team, and help continue building a strong shop culture. Key Responsibilities

• Perform heavy line repairs and general automotive service work on domestic and European vehicles
• Handle R&R work including engines, transmissions, axles, and major component replacements
• Complete maintenance and repair work efficiently while maintaining quality standards
• Perform suspension, brake, steering, and drivability repairs
• Work closely with the Service Advisor to ensure smooth communication and workflow
• Utilize Tekmetric shop management software and digital vehicle inspections (DVI)
• Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work environment
• Assist with mentoring and supporting other technicians when needed
• Contribute positively to a team-focused, growth-minded shop culture

Qualifications

• 5–8+ years of professional automotive technician experience
• Strong ability to efficiently turn hours and stay productive in a fast-paced shop
• Experience performing engine, transmission, axle, and major component R&R work
• Experience with domestic vehicles required; European vehicle experience is a plus
• Comfortable handling a wide range of repairs and services
• Team-oriented mindset with strong communication skills
• Attention to detail and pride in workmanship
• Ability to adapt and think outside the box when needed
• Willingness to continue learning and growing professionally
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record

Compensation & Benefits

• $30–$40/hr based on experience
• Hybrid pay structure with productivity/efficiency bonus opportunities
