Baker / Cake Decorator

We are looking for a dependable, motivated, and detail-oriented Baker / Cake Decorator to join our bakery team. The ideal candidate takes pride in producing high-quality baked goods, works well in a fast-paced environment, and understands the importance of consistency, cleanliness, teamwork, and exceptional presentation.

Your Role

The Baker / Cake Decorator is responsible for preparing, baking, assembling, and decorating bakery products according to established recipes, production standards, and customer orders.

This position requires accuracy, attention to detail, time management, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively with the bakery team. Every product leaving our bakery should meet our standards for quality, consistency, appearance, freshness, and food safety.

Additional duties may be assigned based on daily production and operational needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare bakery products according to established recipes, procedures, and production schedules.
  • Prepare doughs, batters, fillings, frostings, breads, cakes, and other bakery items as assigned.
  • Bake products accurately and consistently while monitoring quality and appearance.
  • Decorate cakes and other products using buttercream, fondant, gum paste, piping, and other decorating techniques as applicable.
  • Follow daily prep lists, production sheets, recipes, and special-order instructions.
  • Review customer orders carefully to ensure accuracy, quality, and presentation before products are released to customers.
  • Maintain strong attention to detail when preparing and decorating custom orders.
  • Assist other bakers, decorators, and team members as needed.
  • Work independently while also contributing positively to the bakery team.
  • Properly handle baked goods and ready-to-eat foods using gloves, deli paper, utensils, or other appropriate food-handling methods.
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, storage, labeling, and cleanliness procedures.
  • Wash, sanitize, dry, and properly store dishes, utensils, equipment, and baking tools.
  • Complete assigned daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning responsibilities.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation throughout the shift.
  • Properly use and care for bakery equipment and immediately report equipment or safety concerns to management.
  • Assist with additional bakery production, preparation, cleaning, stocking, or operational duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Previous bakery, culinary, or commercial food-production experience preferred.
  • Experience preparing a variety of breads and baked goods strongly preferred.
  • Cake decorating experience, including buttercream, piping, fondant, and/or gum paste, preferred.
  • Ability to follow recipes and written instructions accurately.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to product consistency.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Dependable, punctual, and able to complete assigned responsibilities with limited supervision.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of proper food handling and sanitation practices.
  • Food Safety/Food Handler Certification preferred.
  • Willingness to learn and follow the bakery's established recipes, procedures, quality standards, and management direction.

Physical Requirements

This is an active, hands-on bakery position. Employees must be able to:

  • Stand and walk for extended periods during a shift.
  • Frequently bend, reach, push, pull, and perform repetitive hand and arm movements.
  • Safely lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Handle baking ingredients, trays, pans, equipment, and finished products.
  • Perform routine cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, wiping, washing, and sanitizing.
  • Safely work around commercial ovens, mixers, refrigeration equipment, and other bakery equipment.

What We Are Looking For

We value employees who are reliable, teachable, hardworking, respectful, and team-oriented. The right candidate understands that working in a successful bakery requires everyone to contribute—not only to baking and decorating, but also to preparation, cleaning, organization, food safety, and supporting the team.

If you take pride in your work, enjoy creating high-quality products, and want to be part of a bakery that values both craftsmanship and customer experience, we encourage you to apply.
