Job Description

About the Role

The June is seeking a dependable, hardworking Barback to support our bar team and keep the beverage program running smoothly across the club’s outlets. This role is the foundation of a well-run bar, ensuring bartenders have everything they need (ice, glassware, garnishes, and fully stocked product) so they can focus on crafting drinks and connecting with members. From restocking and organizing to cleaning and breakdown, this role plays an important part in delivering seamless, polished service.

The ideal candidate is energetic, observant, and team-first, with a keen sense of urgency and a genuine interest in learning the craft of hospitality from the ground up. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a career behind the bar within a new and growing hospitality concept.

Key Responsibilities

Bar Setup & Restocking

  • Set up bar stations before service, including ice, garnishes, glassware, bar tools, napkins, and service supplies, according to The June’s standards.
  • Keep the bar fully stocked throughout service, including liquor, wine, beer, mixers, juices, and non-alcoholic beverages.
  • Prepare garnishes, fresh juices, syrups, and other bar components to specification, as directed by the bartenders.
  • Change kegs and restock beer, wine, and spirits promptly during service, with minimal disruption to the bartenders and members.
  • Monitor par levels and communicate low inventory or supply needs to the bartender or Bar Manager.

Cleanliness & Sanitation

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and well-presented bar throughout service, including wiping down surfaces, bar mats, and back bar displays.
  • Wash, polish, and put away glassware, bar tools, and equipment according to established sanitation standards.
  • Clear empty glassware, bottles, and debris from the bar and service areas promptly and quietly.
  • Remove trash, recycling, and empty bottles, and keep storage and waste areas clean and organized.
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and chemical handling procedures.

Operational Support

  • Assist bartenders and servers with beverage-related tasks during busy periods as directed.
  • Support deliveries by receiving, checking, and storing beverage orders, and rotating stock properly.
  • Assist with inventory counts, organization of storage areas, and maintaining accurate stock locations.
  • Help set up and break down bars for private events, programming, and special occasions.
  • Support opening and closing procedures, including breakdown, cleaning, and resetting the bar for the next service.

Teamwork & Professionalism

  • Work collaboratively with bartenders, servers, runners, and kitchen team members to keep service moving.
  • Anticipate needs before they are voiced, and communicate clearly and calmly during busy periods.
  • Receive feedback constructively and look for opportunities to learn the bar program, including cocktails, wine, and spirits.
  • Handle all member and guest interactions with warmth and discretion, and represent The June’s standards at all times.
  • Contribute to a culture of accountability, respect, and high standards across The June.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a barback, bar support, or in a similar hospitality role preferred, though we are happy to train the right person.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining a clean, organized bar.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs, move kegs and cases using proper technique and equipment, and stand for extended periods throughout a shift.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with a diverse team.
  • Current food safety and alcohol service certifications (or ability to obtain upon hire).
  • Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as business needs require.
  • A proactive, team-first mindset and willingness to jump in wherever support is needed.

Nice to Have

  • Experience working in a high-volume bar, restaurant, hotel, or private club.
  • Basic knowledge of spirits, wine, beer, and classic cocktails.
  • Interest in growing into a bartender role.
  • Experience supporting a restaurant or bar opening or pre-opening training program.

At The June, great hospitality starts behind the bar. We’re looking for someone who takes pride in the details, supports their teammates, and understands that a well-run bar is essential to delivering an exceptional experience for every member.
