MGP Ingredients is a leading supplier of premium distilled spirits and food ingredient solutions. Its Distilling Solutions segment provides bourbons, whiskeys, ryes, gins, and vodkas to craft and multinational brands. MGP's own Branded Spirts business is growing following the 2021 acquisition of Luxco, a top spirits producer, bottler, supplier, and importer as well as the 2023 acquisition of Penelope Bourbon, known for its wide range of uniquely blended expressions. Ingredient Solutions delivers nutritional, functional wheat- and pea-based ingredients aligned with consumer trends. The company operates in locations across the Midwestern U.S., and overseas in Northern Ireland and Mexico.
THE OPPORTUNITY: Quality Lab Assistant-Barrel Sampler
Assist Quality department with various tasks that support departmental procedures and meeting customer needs. Aid in maintaining the integrity of products while meeting compliance standards.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
Collect and process product samples as requested by manager, salesforce and customer sample orders. Work in coordination with various departments to acquire adequate sampling during product approval phases. Prepares samples and shipping documents ensuring compliance with company policy as well as state and federal regulations. Serve as back up to sensory lab once qualified. Dispose of retain samples for return to distillery. Participate in all departmental training. Utilize computer software to manage data and tracking information.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
High School graduate or equivalent- required. Associate's degree in science field preferred. Experience with MS Office- Excel. Knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices and knowledge of dangerous goods/IATA/DOT will set this candidate for success in the role. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently with self-driven task completion as the goal. Having the ability to effectively organize sample workload to meet customer demands will be critical. Requires strong attendance and self-directed motivation.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This position is constantly exposed to the elements of weather outdoors and indoors that are not climate controlled. Exposure to darkness, cramped spaces, and heights in the barrel warehouses. Constant exposure to dust, dirt, chemicals and fumes, as well as pests are a daily part of this role. This position also requires constant physical mobility including walking and endurance, physical agility, physical strength to carry 25-50 lbs. regularly, dexterity of hands, fingers, feet with balance and coordination of eye/hand- hand/foot being necessary. These physical attributes are carried out in the warehouse and office setting.
