Position Summary The Basic X-Ray Machine Operator / Medical Assistant is responsible for performing routine radiographic imaging and providing clinical support to ensure efficient patient flow. This role supports providers, delivers high-quality patient care, and maintains compliance with state regulations and clinic protocols.
Key Responsibilities
Radiology (BXMO) Duties
· Perform routine diagnostic X-ray exams in accordance with state and federal guidelines.
· Position patients properly to obtain accurate imaging while ensuring patient comfort and safety.
· Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot basic X-ray equipment.
· Follow all radiation safety protocols, including proper shielding and documentation.
· Ensure image quality and submit images to the PACS/Radiologist for interpretation.
· Maintain radiology logs, quality control records, and equipment maintenance documentation.
· Adhere to ALARA principles (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) for radiation exposure.
Medical Assisting Duties
· Room patients, obtain vital signs, document medical history, and prepare patients for examination.
· Assist providers with exams, procedures, injections, and point-of-care testing.
· Perform venipuncture and specimen collection as permitted by clinic policy and state law.
· Administer medications under provider direction.
· Complete charting and documentation in the EMR.
· Maintain exam rooms, stock supplies, and ensure proper sterilization of instruments.
· Support front-office operations as needed (scheduling, check-in, insurance verification).
Qualifications
· Active Basic X-Ray Machine Operator (BXMO) or state-equivalent radiography license.
· Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program (preferred) or relevant clinical experience.
· Current BLS/CPR certification.
· Knowledge of radiographic positioning, exposure techniques, and radiation safety guidelines.
· Strong patient service, communication, and multitasking skills.
Physical Requirements
· Ability to stand or walk for extended periods.
· Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. and assist with patient mobility as needed.
· Ability to move, position, or transfer patients safely.
Work Environment
· Fast-paced clinical or urgent care setting.
· Exposure to bodily fluids, radiation, and infectious diseases (with proper safety protocols).
· Flexible scheduling may include evenings, weekends, or holidays.
Compensation: $21.00 - $33.00 per hour
