Job Description
$21-$23/hr | Full-Time (Summer) | Leadership Role
We run youth basketball camps for kids ages 5-14 across Fairfax County, Loudoun, Arlington, and Herndon. We need a Basketball Camp Director who knows the game, can manage a full day of programming, lead a staff, and deliver a camp experience kids will talk about all year.
You run the gym. We back you up.
What you will do:
- Direct daily operations of a full-day basketball camp
- Build and manage daily schedule - skill sessions, drills, games, competitions, cool-down
- Lead and supervise a team of counselors and assistant coaches
- Deliver and oversee OTA basketball curriculum across age groups and skill levels
- Run or delegate station-based skill development (ball handling, shooting, defense, IQ)
- Be the primary point of contact for parents at your site
- Handle incidents, injuries, and behavioral issues calmly and professionally
- Ensure every camper is safely signed out at end of day
What we are looking for:
- Strong basketball background - played or coached at a competitive level
- 2+ years coaching or camp leadership experience
- Ability to manage and motivate a team of counselors
- Comfortable coaching multiple age groups and skill levels in the same day
- High energy, high standards
- Strong parent communication skills
- Must pass background check + fingerprinting
- Reliable transportation to assigned camp site
Pay and Schedule:
- $20-$25/hr to start based on experience
- Up to $30/hr for returning, experienced directors
- Full-time hours during summer (typically June-August)
- Pre-season training and planning required
