This role leads data projects, infrastructure, and automation initiatives to improve grant administration, operational efficiency, data quality, and decision-making while ensuring systems are scalable, secure, and reliable. The position also provides technical leadership, project oversight, and continuous improvement efforts to deliver innovative data solutions that support organizational performance and improve outcomes for children and families.Please refer to the “Our Client & This Project” section at the bottom of this job posting to learn more.How You Contribute to the Team:
- Lead the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of data management, reporting, workflow automation, and system integration solutions.
- Manage complex data engineering projects from planning through deployment, ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, reliable, and aligned with business requirements.
- Design and maintain data pipelines, ETL processes, databases, data warehouses, and reporting systems.
- Develop and manage API integrations and automated workflows across multiple systems and platforms.
- Establish and enforce data governance, data quality, security, and compliance standards.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate business needs into technical solutions.
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement process and technology improvements.
- Provide technical leadership, supervision, coaching, and mentoring to project team members.
- Manage project plans, priorities, timelines, deliverables, and stakeholder communications.
- Evaluate and implement emerging technologies, including AI-enabled data and automation solutions.
- Prepare technical documentation, reports, and presentations for leadership and stakeholders.
- Resolve project, client, and team issues while promoting collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Software Engineering, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
- Relevant certifications in project management, Agile methodologies, cloud technologies, data engineering, or related disciplines are a plus.
- At least 10 years of relevant post-baccalaureate professional experience in data engineering, data management, database administration, system integration, business intelligence, analytics, or related technical fields.
- Minimum 3 years of progressive supervisory or team leadership experience.
- Demonstrated experience leading complex, high-profile, multi-faceted data projects.
- Experience overseeing enterprise data solutions, workflow automation initiatives, and system integrations.
- Experience working with federal information systems preferred.
- At least 1 year of experience supporting Head Start, Early Head Start, or early childhood education programs highly preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of database design, data modeling, ETL development, data warehousing, and enterprise data architecture.
- Strong proficiency in SQL and Python.
- Experience with API development, system integration, and workflow automation.
- Knowledge of data governance, data security, and information management best practices.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure.
- Familiarity with Docker, Confluence, and related development tools.
- Experience working with PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle, and other relational databases.
- Experience applying artificial intelligence technologies within data engineering, analytics, or automation environments preferred.
- Experience managing large-scale data projects from planning through implementation and continuous improvement.
- Proven ability to supervise, coach, mentor, and develop technical staff.
- Experience applying Agile methodologies and project management tools to support project delivery.
- Strong project planning, organizational, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proven ability to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve project, client, and team issues.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present technical information to diverse audiences.
- Agile, Scrum, PMP, or related project management certifications preferred.
- Proven ability to effectively communicate to various audiences when speaking and in writing.
- Must be able to communicate, collaborate and interact with colleagues in a remote work environment; must participate in virtual meetings, appear on camera as needed, and contribute to meeting content as required.
- Proficiency with computer, Internet, Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint); experience with SharePoint and Monday.com desirable.
- Experience with video meetings/conferencing (e.g., Zoom, Adobe, MS Teams).
- Ability to adapt quickly to new applications.
