Job Description:

Job Title: Behavioral Health and School Safety Director- Atlanta 

Workplace: 200 Piedmont Ave, SE. Atlanta, Ga. 30334

Hybrid- 1-3 days per week in office

Travel: 50%

Job Summary:

The Behavioral Health and School Safety team is being stood up pursuant to the directions of HB268, the Comprehensive School Safety & Student Well-being Act, and legislative direction in the FY2027 budget. The BH and School Safety Director will be responsible for the following:

  • Ensuring that all school safety plans are reviewed and either approved or disapproved and feedback are provided to allow a school to bring their plan into adherence with standards.
  • Ensure that training and technical assistance is provided to school when school safety plans are not approved to assist the school to bring their plan into adherence with standards.
  • Ensure that training and technical assistance on the integration of behavioral health into school Behavioral Threat Assessment and Management and school climate processes is developed and available to schools, RESAs, and other partners.
  • Work closely with partners in the Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA) around behavioral health and school safety.
  • Working closely with the DBHDD Office of Data and Analytics, ensure that statistics related to BH and School Safety are collected, analyzed, and used to drive decisions/develop opportunities/generate research.
  • Develop reports and presentations.
  • Manage assigned grants and contracts.
  • Represent DBHDD in the community.
  • Supervise the full-time BH and School Clinical Specialist Positions once developed/filled, and any additional staff added to program via state or grant dollars.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in operations management, business administration, or a related field which includes two (2) years in a managerial or supervisory role; or six (6) years of related professional experience which includes two (2) years in a managerial or supervisory role.--Note: An equivalent combination of knowledge, education, job or intern experience, training, or certifications that provides the necessary knowledge and skills to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted year-over-year.
