The Behavioral Health Therapist is responsible for providing care to patients as a part of a multidisciplinary team. The Behavioral Health Therapist will provide direct services including individual and group therapeutic services to patients, including assessments, treatment plans, and discharge planning.

This is a full-time exempt position.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Demonstrates cultural competency and commitment to patients.

  2. Addresses referrals from providers.

  3. Participates with daily huddles to assess needs and coordinate services as needed.

  4. Provide therapeutic services to patients and their families.

  5. Work in collaboration with multidisciplinary team members including external partners.

  6. Participates in patient education and promote patient wellness.

  7. Documents patient care in the proper format and in a timely manner.

  8. Becomes familiar with the organization structure, communications systems and billing process.

  9. Cooperates with physicians, providers, and staff to ensure optimal patient care.

  10. Participates in meetings and be involved in policy formation.

  11. Keeps all licenses and appropriate certifications current.

  12. Participates with the physician in a periodic review of the patient's health record.

  13. Keeps medical knowledge and skills current through regular CME activity.

  14. Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise.

  15. Ensures no injuries to self or others by following safe work practices and policies. This includes, but is not limited to: security and safety, understanding of SDS, equipment, infection control, fire, disaster, safe lifting and body mechanics.

  16. Ensures self-compliance with organization policies and procedures, as well as labor agreements.

  17. Ensures the interface with team members and other support groups is conducted in a courteous and efficient manner conducive with the organization's values.

  18. Conducts self in a professional manner and ensures personal appearance meets the standards necessary to perform the job function while representing the organization.

  19. Ensures that additional accountabilities, as may be required by management, be handled in a manner necessary to meet organizational standards.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The professional in this position reports to the Director of Operations - Primary Care. This position works closely with Samaritan Clinic professionals ensuring the provision of high quality, safe patient care.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Education:

a. Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, or related field from accredited university.

  • Licensure:

a. Current Washington State Licensure: LCSW, LMHC, LICSW, OR LMFT.

b. Current HCP (Healthcare Provider) Level of BLS (Basic Life Support) within 30 days of hire.

  • Experience:

a. Minimum of one (1) year experience post-licensure required. Two (2) years post-licensure preferred.

  • Skills/Competencies:

a. Demonstrated skills in patient care.

b. Critical thinking skills: Seeks resources for direction. Performs independent problem solving. Decision-making is logical and deliberate.

c. Performs actions that demonstrate accountability. Exercises safe judgment in decision-making. Practices within legal and ethical guidelines.

d. Crisis and trauma management preferred.

e. Experience with pediatrics preferred.

f. Demonstrates competency in ability to care for customers/patients across the age continuum.

g. Demonstrated skills in prioritization.

h. Demonstrated skills in verbal communication and listening.

i. Demonstrated skills in providing excellent service to customers.

j. Ability to handle a variety of functions simultaneously with multiple interruptions.

k. Ability to adapt to changing roles.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  1. Frequent sitting with occasional standing, walking, lifting, reaching, kneeling, bending, stooping, pushing and pulling. Light physical effort, ability to lift/carry up to 10 lbs. (supplies and equipment).

  2. Manual dexterity.

  3. Good reading eyesight.

  4. Ability to communicate using verbal and/or written skills for accurate exchange of information with physicians, nurses, health care professionals, patients and/or family.
