Job Description

Position Title: School-Based Life Skills Specialist (BHT)Position Type: Full-TimeLocation: Zarephath

Position Summary:The School-Based Life Skills Specialist (School Success Specialist) provides life skills training, behavioral support, and counseling to school-aged clients under the supervision of the Clinical Director. Responsibilities include clinical documentation, treatment planning, and collaboration with families, schools, and care teams.

Clinical supervision toward independent licensure is available.

Work Schedule:

  • Monday through Friday; hours vary by school and client schedules

  • Must be available during school breaks and summer programming

Physical Requirements:

  • Indoor and outdoor work environments

  • Frequent movement, including climbing stairs

  • Ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs (with or without accommodations)

  • Must be able to transport clients using a personal vehicle

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide weekly life skills and counseling services to assigned clients

  • Meet weekly encounter/unit goals

  • Develop and update individualized treatment plans

  • Monitor and report on client progress and intervention effectiveness

  • Facilitate age-appropriate therapeutic, recreational, and social skill activities

  • Maintain organized client files and documentation

  • Participate in team meetings, clinical supervision, and provider/parent meetings

  • Ensure confidentiality and positive engagement with clients and families

  • Represent Zarephath professionally in all community and client interactions

  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or related behavioral health field

    • OR Bachelor’s degree in a similar field with at least 5 years of experience in a behavioral health setting with children

  • Licensed or associate licensed (preferred)

  • Background in CBT and trauma-focused CBT (preferred)

  • Experience working with children and families on issues such as PTSD, ADHD, depression, anxiety, OCD, DV, and substance use

  • Familiarity with the Arizona Behavioral Health system and stakeholders (DDD, CPS, Juvenile Probation)

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in counseling, assessments, and treatment planning

  • Knowledge of Arizona’s 12 Principles

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic computer skills

  • CPR and First Aid certified

  • Must be 21 years of age or older

  • Possess a valid state driver's license

  • Must obtain or possess a Fingerprint Clearance Card

  • Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills

Compensation:Initial Salary (First 60 Days): $42,000 – $47,000After Probation: Base Salary + Pay-Per-Unit = $42,000 – $47,000

51–100+ $7.50 per unit
101–125+ $7.75 per unit
126–150+ $8.00 per unit
151++ $8.50 per unit

Note: 1 unit = 15 minutes of client service or care coordination.100 units = 25 hours of face-to-face service per week.
