Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) – Youth Residential Treatment
Project Patch Youth Program – Boys’ DormGarden Valley, Idaho (approximately one hour north of Boise)
Join a Team Restoring Hope to Teens
Project Patch is seeking compassionate and dependable Behavioral Health Technicians (BHTs)to serve as mentors and guides for adolescents in our Christian residential treatment program.
This role is much more than supervision. Our Behavioral Health Technicians build meaningful relationships with young men who need encouragement, structure, and guidance as they rediscover their worth and potential.
Through daily mentorship, consistent structure, and faith-centered support, BHTs help teens develop healthier choices, stronger character, and a renewed sense of hope for their future.
This is a direct-care residential position and does not require a professional counseling license. Behavioral Health Technicians work closely with licensed clinicians as part of the treatment team.

Our residential youth program in Garden Valley, Idaho helps adolescents ages 12–17who are struggling with behavioral challenges, emotional difficulties, or unhealthy life patterns.

Project Patch sits on a beautiful 169-acre mountain campus in Garden Valley, Idaho, surrounded by mountains and bordered by the Payette River.

Schedule
Full-time day shift
Pitman Schedule (2-2-3 rotation)including:
Alternating weekends
Holidays
Occasional overtime

What Behavioral Health Technicians Do
Behavioral Health Technicians play a key role in the daily life of our residential program. They help create a safe, structured, and encouraging environment where teens can grow.
Responsibilities include:
Providing consistent supervision and support for youth
Building positive mentoring relationships with residents
Helping youth practice healthy communication and decision-making
Implementing behavior support plans
Participating in recreation, activities, and daily routines with teens
Responding calmly to behavioral challenges using approved intervention techniques
Completing documentation and shift reports
Administering medications only after required training and according to policy
Working closely with clinicians, supervisors, and the treatment team
Supporting Teens Through Trauma-Informed Care
Project Patch uses trauma-informed approaches that emphasize empathy, consistency, and healthy boundaries.
Behavioral Health Technicians are expected to:
Maintain a calm and supportive presence during conflict
Help teens develop emotional regulation skills
Avoid power struggles
Encourage accountability while preserving dignity
Apply Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI®)principles in daily interactions
Spiritual Mentorship
Project Patch is a Christian ministry.
Staff help support the spiritual mission of the program by:
Modeling conduct consistent with Christian values
Encouraging youth in faith and personal growth
Assisting with chapel, prayer, or spiritual discussions when appropriate
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent
At least 19 years of age at time of hire
Age 25+ preferred for day shift roles
Helpful experience includes:
Youth mentorship
Behavioral health
Residential treatment
Education or youth ministry
Social services
Experience is helpful but not required. We provide training.
Certifications Required
(or ability to obtain after hire)
CPR and First Aid
Crisis prevention / de-escalation
Medication administration
Mandated reporter training
Trauma-informed care training (TBRI® or similar)
