What you'll do at DBH:

The Bureau of Correctional Recovery Services works with incarcerated men and women in Ohio's prisons to instill an improved sense of responsibility and the ability to become law-abiding citizens.

Recovery Services Behavioral Healthcare Provider Supervisors use evidence-based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) in the treatment of incarcerated men and women in prison who are in need of substance abuse recovery programming.

Duties of the Behavioral Healthcare Provider Supervisor include, but are not limited to:

  • Manages the day-to-day operation of the institution Recovery Services program
  • Develops & implements the policies & procedures for the program
  • Assist with program budget planning
  • When applicable coordinates & participates in quality assurance activities
  • Participates in personnel management tasks including recruitment, interviewing, training & recommendations for hire
  • Supervises employees assigned to the recovery services program
  • Directs & manages treatment activities of the Recovery Services staff (Correctional Program Coordinators)
  • Provides in-service training & evaluations; maintains necessary data documents required by DBH & Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections (ODRC)
  • Provides AOD treatment services to incarcerated men and women in the program (e.g., treatment planning, progress notes, AOD education, individual & group counseling)
  • Serves as institution representative on statewide committees for AOD related issues; must conduct themselves professionally, & in a law-abiding manner at all times & in accordance with the ODRC & DBH Standards of Employee Conduct
  • Attends meetings, conferences, workshops as directed; assists with public relations for programs; serves on institution committees; performs security functions.

This is an hourly position and is exempt from the bargaining units, with a pay range of 13 on the E1 Exempt Pay Range Schedule. Normal working hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm. This position is located within Northeast Reintegration Center at 2675 E. 30th St., Cleveland, Ohio 44115.

Unless required by any applicable union contract and/or requirements of the Ohio Revised Code, the selected candidate will begin at Step 1 of the pay range schedule listed above, with an opportunity for pay increase after six months of satisfactory performance and then a yearly raise thereafter.

Selected applicant(s) will be required to complete the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation & Correction's training at the Corrections Training Academy located in Orient, OH. This training is approximately 4 weeks in length.

Position Qualifications

Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor (LICDC) by Ohio Chemical Dependency Professionals Board.

  • Or Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) by Ohio Counselor, Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy Board.
  • Or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) by Ohio Counselor, Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy Board.
  • Or Licensed Independent Marriage and Family Therapist (IMFT) by the Ohio Counselor, Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy Board.
  • Or Licensed Registered Nurse with certificate of authority as a Clinical Nurse Specialist or Certified Nurse Practitioner with specialty certification in Mental Health or Psychiatry as issued by Ohio Board of Nursing . -And in addition to licensure must have 12 mos. exp. providing clinical supervision in behavioral healthcare services (e.g., counseling, group services, crisis intervention).
  • Or 12 mos. exp. as Behavioral Healthcare Provider 2, 65832.
  • Or 12 mos. exp. as Correctional Program Coordinator, 69323.

TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT REQUIRED TO REMAIN IN THE CLASSIFICATION AFTER EMPLOYMENT

Completion of continuing professional education for license renewal pursuant to relevant sections of Ohio Revised Code.

UNUSUAL WORKING CONDITIONS

May require unusual work schedules or arrangements; may be exposed to clients who may be potentially violent; may be exposed to unusual noise, odors or contagious diseases; may require travel to community site under contract with Department of Behavioral Health.
