Anders Group is looking for an experienced, organized leader to own the full cycle of payroll and billing in our staffing environment. This includes collecting and auditing timecards, running payroll through ADP, and ensuring accurate, timely client invoicing through VMS platforms and Salesforce.

This role is both strategic and hands-on — leading a team while actively working in the details. You will be responsible for keeping operations running smoothly, driving team performance, and ensuring compliance across multistate payroll requirements. You’ll also leverage ADP SmartCompliance, monitor changing regulations, and implement updates to keep processes accurate, efficient, and audit-ready.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop Payroll and Billing team members; manage workloads, productivity, and performance
  • Oversee daily workflow including billing queues, payroll processing timelines, approvals, and issue resolution and act as escalation point for payroll discrepancies, billing issues, and client concerns
  • Oversee end-to-end payroll processing including timecard audits (hours, overtime, on-call, callbacks), payroll runs, and adjustments
  • Ensure accurate payroll processing through ADP and internal systems, including deductions, reimbursements, and garnishments
  • Provide exemplary service to candidates, clients and internal team members
  • Manage multistate payroll compliance, including SIT/SUI, tax requirements, and regulatory updates
  • Leverage ADP SmartCompliance to maintain accurate tax setup, filings, and ongoing compliance
  • Oversee billing operations including invoice preparation and submission through VMS platforms and Salesforce
  • Ensure billing aligns with contract terms, rates, and overtime rules; monitor approvals and turnaround times
  • Partner with Accounts Receivable to support collections, resolve discrepancies, and improve cash flow
  • Support month-end close activities, reporting, and reconciliation between payroll and billing
  • Maintain organized, audit-ready payroll and billing records and documentation
  • Identify process gaps and inefficiencies; implement improvements to increase accuracy, speed, and scalability
  • Ensure alignment between payroll and billing processes to reduce errors and rework
  • Establish and maintain process documentation, training materials, and operational standards
  • Partner cross-functionally with Finance, HR, Compliance, and Recruiting teams
  • Support hiring and rehiring in ADP, ensuring accurate employee setup and documentation
  • Complete reporting, audits, and special projects with ownership and attention to detail
  • Uphold compliance, accuracy, and consistency across all systems and processes

Skills

  • ADP experience required (Workforce Now and SmartCompliance)
  • Staffing industry experience required
  • VMS platform experience required (Fieldglass, ShiftWise, or similar)
  • Multistate payroll experience required
