Overview
Job Description
- Process claims by accurate and timely entry of patient claim data into the Practice Management (PM) system.
- Timely submission of claims generated in the PM system to Medicaid, Medicare and third-party payers following the submission procedure; accurate and timely processing of payments from third party payers to claims in the PM system.
- Problem solve on denied claims and other non-payment rejections from the third-party payers to attain payment; timely resolution of secondary billing and resubmissions.
- Verify patient benefits to ensure accurate billing and maintain accurate benefit information as needed.
- Active and frequent communication with third party provider representatives on billing procedures; interaction with clinical staff in order to facilitate accurate and timely claims processing as needed.
- Perform other billing and administrative related duties as required or assigned by the Patient Finance Manager and/or Billing Team Leader.
- Other duties as assigned.
- 1-2 years’ work experience in an office setting is required.
- High School diploma or GED certificate is required.
- Good computer skills in data entry and basic analysis. Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel and Access are required.
- Strong organizational and detailed-oriented skills are required.
- Strong and effective communication skills both spoken and written are required.
- Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks to meet reasonable deadlines is required.
- Ability to adapt to changes in work procedures is required.
- Familiarity with Centricity Practice Solutions is preferred.
- Some college or post high school training and/or Health Care Third Party Billing experience preferred.
- The compensation increases based on years of experience and ranges from $22.25 - $35.60 per hour.
